The month of November was exhausted for us, because the Regional Director FSSUPT EDWIN P VARGAS, was expected to visit San Jose Fire Station to conduct an
inspection of AOR, Firetrucks if are all functioning or in good conditions and also the personnel here in the station. The following days, we always instructed to clean the firetrucks
to always make it clean. The following days we used to do the washing the hose and arranging papers related to all establishment here in San Jose. And in the half of November,
FO1 Ramiro Ray C Romero reached us how to execute the different knot tying techniques, and the whole week was acted on that for us to remember and to perfect the different
techniques of knot tying. Also we have conducted an activity regarding to knot tying, it was led by FO2 Ralph John D Perino.
I am able to assert that acquiring knowledge about various methods of tying is both challenging and enjoyable since I have learnt a great deal, yet it is also confusing. And
as an outcome, once we're within a fire station, our minds have a greater emphasis upon what else we must study, and that's why I am getting more acquainted with the apparatus
utilized by the Bureau of Fire Protection. The opportunity to intern at the Bureau of Fire Protection is a perk that will help me get closer to my dream job when the time comes. I
discovered and learned a lot of things that went beyond my initial assumptions about what else a fire officer might do besides put out a fire. Furthermore, they are leaders in
securing people's lives and property, particularly during disasters, and they promote social order and safety.
I am now able to state that my skills have progressed significantly as I can. As a student intern, I can state that I have really improved, and I am also confident that this
experience is going to be very beneficial to me for my future goal of working as uniform personnel.

Reflection
My On-The-Job Training (OJT) experience at the Bureau of Fire Protection in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, has been enlightening and transformative. From the very beginning
on September 28, 2023, meeting Municipal Fire Marshall FINSP Rogelio O Cabalse Jr. set the tone for understanding the importance of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in our
society. The subsequent days were filled with a wealth of knowledge, ranging from the history of BFP presented by FO1 Ramiro Ray C Romero to insightful discussions on the
Vision and Mission led by FO1 Marvin D Utara.
Throughout the training, the dedication of the fire officers was evident. Weekly inspections by FO2 Ralph John D Perino ensured discipline and adherence to uniform standards,
emphasizing the importance of professionalism. Daily sessions covered various topics, from fire extinguisher use to first aid and bandaging, providing practical insights that extend
beyond classroom learning.
As the weeks progressed, the training expanded to encompass essential skills. FO1 Eugene D Pedrosa taught rescue transfer techniques, while FO1 Teddy C Siscar focused on hose
folding and throwing techniques. The thorough understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by FO1 Jobert F Factor, including the demonstration of wearing the SCBA,
showcased the commitment to safety protocols.
A comprehensive overview of the Fire Code of the Philippines by FO2 Ralph John D Perino added a legal perspective to our training, highlighting the importance of compliance
and regulation. The first month alone broadened my understanding of firefighting, rescue operations, and the meticulous attention to safety protocols.
The month of November presented unique challenges with the visit of Regional Director FSSUPT Edwin P Vargas. This period emphasized the importance of maintaining
firetrucks and the station in prime condition. Cleaning activities became routine, highlighting the significance of teamwork and diligence in maintaining operational readiness.
Knot tying techniques, instructed by FO1 Ramiro Ray C Romero, added a practical and hands-on dimension to our learning. While challenging, this skill enhanced our problem-
solving abilities and underscored the importance of precision in emergencies.
Transitioning into December, the focus shifted to physically demanding activities such as the Traverse, Commando Crawl, and Monkey Crawl. These exercises tested our physical
capabilities and reinforced the importance of endurance and teamwork in challenging scenarios.
A sense of accomplishment and celebration marked the final weeks. The boodle fight and advice session on our last day symbolized the camaraderie built during the training. I am
grateful for the valuable lessons, practical skills, and personal growth achieved as an OJT trainee at the San Jose Fire Station. This experience has not only enriched my

understanding of firefighting. Still, it has also instilled a deep appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the Bureau of Fire Protection. The skills and insights gained
will serve me well in my future endeavors.
Monthly
In our third month, which is December, there are only two weeks scheduled for our OJT training. During this time, we completed the Traverse activity, as well as the Commando
Crawl and Monkey Crawl. We learned many different techniques for the Traverse activity and discovered that it takes hard work to execute it properly. Overcoming struggles
while on the rope requires learning and practicing other techniques.
Since we had completed all the other topics in September, October, and November, we only had the Traverse activity to focus on in December. This made the month easier, as we
only had to perform our cleaning tasks at the station from 4 pm to 5 pm.
This month marks our last month in the San Jose Fire Station, and on our final day, we celebrated by having a boodle fight with other OJT trainees and fire officers. We also
received valuable advice from them, and I feel that I have learned a lot during my 50 days as an OJT trainee at this station. I am grateful for the experience and believe that the
skills I have gained will benefit me in my everyday life and future.
Narrative
I am thrilled to share my experience of beginning my On-the-Job Training (OJT) with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, on September 28,
2023. It was a significant moment in my life, and I couldn't wait to get started. On the first day, we had the pleasure of meeting Municipal Fire Marshall FINSP Rogelio O Cabalse
Jr., who warmly welcomed us and explained the critical rules of BFP and why it matters in our community.
As the days progressed, we were privileged to learn from different fire officers who shared their insights about the history of BFP, why it exists, and what it aims to achieve. To
ensure we looked professional, we had weekly checks to make sure we wore the proper uniform and appeared tidy.
We had daily sessions where we learned how to use fire equipment and what to do in emergencies. It was exciting to learn about different knots, and the instructors patiently
guided us through the process. They also emphasized the importance of wearing protective gear, like helmets and gloves, to keep us safe during emergencies.

We faced several challenges, but we worked together to ensure everything at the fire station was in good shape. One of the most exciting moments was when the Regional Director
FSSUPT Edwin P Vargas came to visit in November. We put in extra effort to make everything extra clean and organized, and it paid off.
Learning wasn't just about sitting in a class. We did fun and challenging activities like climbing ropes and crawling, which tested our strength and teamwork. It was incredible to
see how far we had come by December when we focused on activities like crawling on the ground and climbing ropes, which were easier because we had already learned so much
in the previous months.
The final days were unforgettable. We celebrated with a boodle fight, where everyone ate together, and the fire officers shared valuable advice. It felt like we were part of one big
family, and I am grateful for the new skills and friends I gained at the San Jose Fire Station.
This OJT taught me more than just putting out fires; it taught me about teamwork, safety, and the importance of being prepared for anything. It was a fantastic experience that will
positively impact my future job, and I am excited to apply the skills I gained. Thank you, BFP San Jose, for the experience of a lifetime.
