AOG 2024 in Northampton
We are pleased to announce that the Annual Outdoor Gathering 2024 will take
place this July at the University of Northampton. Bookings for AOG 2024 will
open on Friday 1st March.
The AOG will be held from Friday 26th to Monday 29th July at the university’s
state-of-the-art Waterside Campus, a 20‑minute stroll into the town centre of
Northampton. In celebration of our 50th anniversary, we will have special
moments throughout the weekend, including an exhibition of Club archive
materials.
Getting there
Driving
From London, the North, South East, South West and Wales: Head on to the M1
by any route, exit at junction 15 onto the A45, continue along the A508 and exit at
South Bridge Street.
From East Anglia and the North East: Take the A43 or A45. Exit at Barnes Meadow
Interchange on to the A428, and follow the signs for the university. The postcode
for the university car park is NN4 8RR.
Rail
Northampton Railway Station is one hour by train from both London Euston and
Birmingham New Street. The number 18 bus connects the train station to campus
Monday – Friday (at weekends, please walk to the Drapery and catch the 19/19A
service to Waterside).
Coach
National Express and other coach services operate from Victoria Street (please
check with your operator to confirm) which is located directly beside the Upper
Mounts car park in the town centre. Local buses operate from Northgate Bus
Station, just off the Market Square in the town centre.
The Uno 19 and 19A depart from the Drapery to Waterside every 12 minutes.

Outdoor activities
The local group is busy organising the activities for 2024. A full list will be
published in due course.

Accommodation
The single rooms at Northampton are within the student accommodation, which
was recently completed to a high standard. Double rooms will be available in the
on‑site Sunley Hotel, which was also recently built to an excellent standard.
Availability of double rooms will be limited in comparison to previous years, so
please book early to avoid disappointment.

Breakfasts will be provided at The Market canteen.

changes for 2024, and more options to suit differing tastes.

Breakfast at the university is only available to members staying on campus.
Packed Lunches will be available for collection at Breakfast.
The university can cater for any dietary requirements in the packed lunches.
For drinks, Waterside Bar will be open, with its dedicated games area.
Please note that the Friday evening meal will return for 2024!
Shopping
There is a Morrisons store on campus, but at present, we are unable to confirm
out‑of‑term opening times. However, an Asda which is open from 7.00am until
11.00 pm is located nearby.
Bookings for accommodation and meals
Bookings will open on Friday 1st March. Please do not make commitments for
travel and other expenses until your booking is confirmed. Accommodation will
be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We therefore urge you to book
early to avoid disappointment.
Bookings will be online via the website. If you are unable to book online, please
ask a friend or other GOC member to do so on your behalf.

Policy on cancellations
Accommodation and breakfast:

Please note that attendees who do not return their room keys when checking out
will be charged £30 plus VAT. GOC will also charge attendees for any damage or
unusual cleaning resulting from the actions of those attendees, where the
university has charged GOC for this.

As it will not be possible for members to camp at the university, the campsite that

Extending your stay
With a packed programme for the AOG weekend, you may wish to extend your
stay. Subject to availability, you will be able to book additional nights on campus
directly with the university’s Sunley Hotel. We recommend booking via
Booking.com to secure this. Please note that GOC will not be involved in this
booking process and cannot accept any responsibility for it.
