Multimedia : is a form of communication that combines different
content forms such as text, audio, images, animations, or video into a
single presentation, in contrast to traditional mass media, such as
printed material or audio recordings.

integration of text, audio, images, animations, or video where every type
of information can be represented, stored, transmitted and processed
digitally.

drawings, line art, mathematical graphs, line graphs, charts, diagrams,
symbols, geometric designs, maps, engineering drawings, or other images.

A picture means a thousand words.

The illusion of motion created by consecutive display of images of
static elements.

Is the technology of capturing, recording, processing, transmitting
and reconstructing moving picture.

Video is more towards photo realistic image sequence / live recording
as comparison to animation.

Produced by vibration, as perceived by sense of hearing.

It comes in the form of speech, sound effect and music score.

Linear vs Non Linear

Linear Multimedia :

It is not interactive.

User have no control over the content that is being showed to them.

Usually, these presentations begin at a predetermined starting point and
end at a predetermined end point.

Example : Cinema, Movies, TV Shows

Non-Linear Multimedia :

It is interactive.

User have control over the content that is being showed to them.

User are given navigational control.

Information is not presented in sequential or chronological manner.

Example : Gaming, Websites, Hypermedia etc.

may be viewed in person on stage, projected, transmitted, or played
locally with a media player.

A broadcast may be a live or recorded multimedia presentation.

Broadcasts and recordings can be either analog or digital electronic
media technology.

Digital online multimedia may be downloaded or streamed.

Streaming multimedia may be live or on-demand.
