INTRODUCTION

According to research done on [Link], sugary drinks are proven to be mostly

consumed by adolescents and young adults. The attraction caused by sugary drinks according to
[Link], the brain triggers the production of dopamine. The feeling then leaves as fast as it arrives and
leaves the body in want of more. The researcher is a fifth form student at the Frome Technical High
school and observed that most students solely drink sugary drinks throughout the entire school day.
Students are eager to gain information as to why this issue is a persistent one and what can be done to
alleviate this problem. In this SBA, the researcher is gaining information on the actual number of
students of fifth form that intake sugary drinks.

With this information the health risk and effects of the consumption of an unhealthy number of sugary
drinks will be written about.

ANALYSIS OF DATA

The researcher’s goal was to determine how many sugary drinks the students in fifth form consume
daily. 4 questions from the questionnaire were chosen to be examined.

Figure 1.2 shows the types of sugary drink that the students prefer, 65% of the students drinks Pepsi
maybe because it is more addicting. While 35% drinks Tropics and the remaining 5% drinks Ginger Beer.

Figure (1.3) shows that more than 60% of the students claims to consume two sugary drinks on an
average day. Another 25% drink about one a day, while the remaining 15% is split into 10% who only
consume three sugary drinks daily and the remaining 5% consumes none. It may be said that the
majority drink two sugary drinks every day, which is likely because all of them are teenagers.

When the students were asked whether they liked water or their favorite sugary drink in figure (1.4)
65%, or 13 out of 20 respondents, said they preferred water, while 35%, or 7 out of 20 students said they
preferred sugary drinks. It may be extrapolated from this that even though some students drank sugary
drinks every day, they preferred water to the sugary drinks.

In figure (1.5) 50% respondents said that nothing changed after drinking a sugary beverage, while 30%
said they felt energic at first and subsequently drowsy after. The remaining 20% split into ten percent
each, said they felt dehydrated, while the other half said they felt energized.
