I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of: pre-colonial Philippine Literature as a means of connecting to the
past; various reading styles; ways of determining word meaning; the sounds of English and the prosodic
features of speech; and correct subject-verb agreement.
B. Performance Standards
The learner transfers learning by: showing appreciation for the literature of the past; comprehending texts
using appropriate reading styles; participating I conversations using appropriate context-dependent
expressions; producing English sounds correctly and using the prosodic features of speech effectively in
various situations; and observing correct subject-verb agreement.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives: Summarize key information from a text- EN7VC-IV-i-16
Cognitive: Identify whether the statement is a fact or an opinion;
Psychomotor: Categorize the fact and opinion statements from the selection; and
Affective: Show gladness in the lesson through active participation.

IV. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

A. Greetings
- Good morning, class. - Good morning, Sir Aldrin. Good morning,
classmates.

- You may take your seat now. The students will take their seats.
B. Checking of Attendance

Group Activity # 1:

The teacher will divide the class into 3


groups.

The teacher will assign places for each


group and will ask them to form a circle.

The teacher will ask each group to assign a


group leader and secretary. The secretary
will list down the group members’ names. The students will follow.
The teacher will collect it after the game
ends.

Game: 4 PICS 1 WORD


The teacher shall give each group a set of
pictures, and they have to guess what word

FACT
It refers to a specific detail that can be proven as
true based on objective evidence. It is a statement
that can be proven.

Example sentences:

- Manila is the capital city of the Philippines.


-Marcos is the current President of the Republic
of the Philippines.
-Cotabato Province is composed of 17
Municipalities and 1 city.

Now, who can give me an example of fact


statements?

OPINION
It refers to a feeling, judgment, belief, or
conclusion that cannot be proven true by
objective evidence. It is a statement that cannot
be proven.

Examples:
- Freya is the most beautiful girl in the
class.
- Chocolate ice cream flavor is the most
delicious of all.
- Carmen is an abundant municipality in
Cotabato.

Now, who can give me an example of an


opinionated statement?

Group Activity #3:


Directions: Read the excerpt from Carmen The students will perform the task.
Guerrero –Nakpil’s “Jeepney” – A Product of
Filipino Ingenuity.” Then, pick out facts and
opinions you can find about the jeepney stated in
the article. Write them in their proper column.
Finish this task in 5 minutes.
