Hyperlink to the Excel File

Project Description
As a data analyst at a multinational company, the objective is to analyze the dataset provided and draw
meaningful insights from it. The purpose is to understand the dataset provided related to IMDB Movies. And
investigate potential problems such as the factors that influence the success of a movie on IMDB. In this case,
success can be defined by high IMDB ratings. The impact of this problem and its analysis is significant for
movie producers, directors, and investors who want to understand what makes a movie successful to make
informed decisions in their future projects.

Approach
1. Examine the data carefully and look for outliers, missing values, errors, or duplicate data and develop a
strategy for data handling and cleaning. Remove all outliers that could impact the analysis.
2. Explore the data to understand the relationship between the different data variables and find out correlations
between movie ratings and other factors like budget, genre, etc. Use the 5 why method to understand the root
cause of the given problem.
3. Draw insights by using queries and functions. Utilize statistical analysis to understand the relations between
different parameters.
4. Visualize the insights with the help of charts/pivot charts or graphs using data visualization tools and
techniques.

Tech-Stack Used
Microsoft Office 365-
Microsoft Word to create a PDF document for the project.
Microsoft Excel to solve queries and create charts.
Microsoft PowerPoint to create a PowerPoint presentation.

Data Cleaning:
● Deleting unnecessary columns from 28 given columns to 8 columns left: “director_name, duration,
gross, genres, movie_title, language, budget, imdb_score”
● Deleting unnecessary rows with null values which might later impact the analysis. Before cleaning 5044
rows and after cleaning- 3888
● Handling duplicate values with duplicate movie title and director name-Rows left- 3786
