DANCE TERMS
1. Arms in lateral position-
both arms are at one,
either sideward right to
left.
2. Arms in reverse “T” –
arms are side horizontal,
elbows bent at right
angle, forearms parallel to
head, palms forward or
facing inward.
3. Clockwise- like the
direction of the clock
hands.
4. Counterclockwise –
reverse direction of
clockwise.
5. Crossed arms – the left
hand of girls is joined to
the left of boy and right
hand to the right of
partner.
6. DOS-A-DOS or DO-SI-
DO – both advance
forward, pass each other’s
right side, step across
the right, move backward
without turning around
and pass each other’s left
side to proper places.
7. Free Foot- foot no
bearing the weight of the
body.
8. Free hand – hand not
doing anything.
9. Outside foot – foot away
from one‘s partner.
10. Outside hand – hand
away from one’s partner.
11. Kumintang – moving the
hand from wrist either
clockwise or
counterclockwise.
12. Sarok – cross the right
foot in front of the left
foot. Bend the body

13. Salok – as if scooping.
14. Brush – with weight or of
the body on one foot hit

15. Jump – a spring from one

16. Leap – a spring from one
foot landing on the other
foot in any direction.
17. Hand on waist – place
hands at the waist line.
