Solution:

Total distance = bridge + train

= (132 + 110) meter =242 meter

(2) A 240 m long train passed a pole in 24 second. How long will it take to pass a 650 m long

Total distance (240 + 650 ) = 890 m.

(4) The ratio of the speeds of a train and a man is 6: 1. The length of the train is 650 m and crosses a

Given that, ratio of speed (train: man) = 6y:1y

the length of the tunnel (in meters) is?

Let, total distance be 𝑥 m.

(8) A train passes a platform in 40 sec and a woman standing on the platform in 30 sec. the speed of
the train is 108 km/h, what is the length of the platform?

Solution:

Let. The length of the platform be 𝑥

Speed of the train = 108 km/h × = 30 m/s

Length of the train=Speed × time=(30 × 30)m=900 m

As per question,

𝑥 + 900 = 30 × 40 [Length of Platform + Train= Speed ×Time]

Or, 𝑥 = 1200 − 900 = 300

∴ The length of the platform 300 meters. (Ans.)


(9) A train moves with a speed of 90 kmph. Its speed in meter per seconds is–
