PLAN OF INVESTIGATION:

My chosen topic is Drugs and its sub-topic, “Cause of Drugs.” I chose his topic because I

want to learn and understand the concepts on how drugs can detrimentally affect you,

including the community in the environment. English Literature, a subject has its most

anticipated benefits. For example, learning how to spell, read passages or information orally,

how to articulate your words, expressing thoughts morally, vocabulary and collect relevant

information. To collect information that is relevant, have an analysis on a passage by reading

carefully and leisurely for many benefits you can get from is the full definition of the passage

and you can interpret it.

Data Piece 1:
Data 2:
Data 3:
Reflection #1:

POEM:

The poem, “drug abuse,” demonstrates how lethal drugs can be for relationships, friendships

including yourself. The lessoned I received from the poem is that illegal substance doesn’t

make you look cool, they’re reliefers that give you temporary pleasure.

COMIC:

From the visuals of the article, it focuses on the outcome on how your own life and lifestyle

would be if you never consume any illicit drugs. Examples: You can deal with school

problems, be one of the best members in your group, making new friends who will take you a

long way and having fun with your love ones.

ARTICLE:

According to the article, illicit drugs and it’s causes, has put many including young adults in

danger. For example, it can cause health problems, increase insomnia, which leads to

difficulties of resting and cancer. Also, the more use of drugs, the addiction increases. After

reading the article, I’ve learned the negative effects and how drugs inflicts your health,

physically and mentally.

Reflection #2:

Poem:

From the poem, it conveys about the true meaning of drug abuse. The stanza obtains

descriptive language. For example, “Drugs are like a knife which kills your entire life.” Each

line and sentence ends with a rhyme. Here’s an example, “Do a good deed, kill the weed,”

and “Drug addiction is not a fiction, drug is a poison that kills your ambition and mission.”

The use of rhyme makes the poem more interesting to read.

Comic:

In the comic strip, it illustrates of how you can live your best life without abusing drugs

addictingly. The visuals, are all in rectangular shapes and squares. Each dialogue from every

person are in text bubbles and they speak so well. That it was simple and easy to understand.

Article:

According to the article, it demonstrates about the definition of illicit drugs in full extent of

words. Which shows factual information in it, without the use of the words, “I” or “We.”

Also, there is a roster of dangers of illicit drugs typed in the article. Such as: Accidents,

poverty, insomnia, addictions, cancer, leading to pyschosis. The article shows how each

explanation on each consequence.

Reflection: 3

Two school terms earlier I was given a topic and a sub- topic about drugs, never thought

about investing my time into this field of topic, nor being interested. As the research of the

topic. Drugs, begins, there were some skills that I generally accepted. First skill, vocabulary,

the word in English language. What I learned from this known topic, I learned how drugs can

be lethal to your mental and physical health. Also, it benefits, on how you can do everything

productively without the use of drugs. From now on, I became more open minded and

responsible decisions I can make by thinking before committing to it.

Group Written Report

Our chosen topic for our English SBA was Drug Abuse and consisted of 4 group members

our chosen sub topics were: the causes, solutions, recovery, types of drugs and the mental

effects on teens. We began by collecting data through different forms of research into

gathering our information. Secondly everyone had a role and thoughts, the information shared

among the group were accepted while others were sharing alternatives for better

understanding. Though we worked and learned individually rather than a group, the group

was very effective as we

managed to help each other out whenever we were stuck somewhere or unsure about

something, regular communication and seeking feedback from one another. The group

gathered our stimulus pieces and choose which one was the best. The chosen stimulus pieces

were: a video, an article and poem.

In the video “My story - This is Stevens story of Addiction and Loss’ by Stand 4 Recovery

was chosen because it shows and talks about a drug addict who lost loved ones during his

period of time taking drugs. This person opens about his past lifestyle taking drugs and how

he felt taking it which is where he started off in history. In the ending, he talks about his

migration to place to place and where or how he started recovering.

The article chosen was “Identifying drug addiction and symptoms” by Guardian Newspaper.

We learnt that the use of illegal drugs is done for many different reasons such as for a stress

reliever or distraction. We learnt that the use of illegal drugs is done for many different

reasons. In addition to this we learnt that some of the different types of illegal drugs

categories like hallucinogens and synthetic hybrids.

The poem written by Ravi Sathasian “Son say no to Drugs” the poet is talking to the son

about the saying no to drugs. The chosen poem is very straightforward and simple to

understand or readers as the use of the conversational tone speaking to the son directly in

Standard English.

The outcome of this research has negatively showed us how bad drugs are for an individual

and was very shocking to know how quick things can be addictive for a desire.
Plan of Oral Investigation:

The style chosen for this oral presentation part of the research project is Poetry. This was

selected, since I admire poems and it allowed me to express myself using figurative and

descriptive techniques. The play of rhyming words inspired me to choose this style. This

topic was chosen, since the use of drugs affects persons all across the globe, especially

among teenagers and young adults. Poetry was chosen to captivate the audience, and aid in

the comprehension of my presentation. The oral presentation composed of describing me, the

writer in the first person, to highlight the negative effects of drugs.

Dear Drugs

You gave me so much pleasure but at what cost.

Losing my friends, family and aspirations, I became lost.

Since I utilized drugs to keep me company;

I became my own enemy.

I thought I had hope,

Until I realize I can’t cope with dope

It didn’t make me healthy or wealthy;

It kept me dingy and filthy.

With all this drug induced addiction

Causing my life pollution.

I had to look for a solution.

To turn my life around, I sprung into action.

With the help of family, I practiced socialization and meditation

As my rehabilitation intervention.

My advice to anyone who wants to try drugs today,

Don’t do it I promise, your life will be in dismay.

Peer pressure and bad company can encourage you.

Make sure to tell them no way, care for me as I care for you.

Remember that this life drags you down among thugs,

Make sure you stand firm and say, “No to drugs!”
