People
• This lesson will explore the most popular arts
and crafts produced by regions in the Visayas
Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern
Visayas and the Panay region.
• It will discuss the origin of these art forms and
the various influences and inspirations that have
made an impost on the creation of these arts.
• Six provinces including Biliran,
Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern

women engage in the ancient
tradition mat-weaving called banig,
these hand woven mats are made
from a special reed glass called
tikog.
