Digital Twin is a leading technology of DHL and is expected to be one of the key
technology components in their E-Supply Chain development. The initial success of this
technology is demonstrated by DHL being awarded the "2023 Digital Twin Innovation
Award" for their Electronic Supply Chain platform, and it is projected to save costs of
over 1 billion euros by 2025. Specifically, the strengths and advantages of Digital Twin
in their e-Supply chain system are as follows:
Comprehensive Scope:

• Beyond Traditional Assets: DHL expands digital twins

beyond just tracking physical assets like vehicles and
warehouses. They integrate it with processes, data flows, and
even entire networks, creating a holistic view of the E-
Supply Chain. DHL partnered with Accenture to create a
digital twin of their entire Asia Pacific network, including all
warehouses, transportation routes, and even individual
packages. This holistic approach allowed them to optimize
resource allocation and predict disruptions across the entire
region. DHL collects data on worker movements, equipment
utilization, and inventory levels within their warehouses and
integrates them with digital twin technology. This
operational data is used to create digital twins of their
warehouses, simulating different layout configurations and
workflow strategies. Thus, DHL designed a new layout for a
major warehouse in Germany, resulting in a 25% increase in
picking efficiency and a 10% reduction in worker fatigue.
• Multi-layered Data Integration: They combine sensor data
from physical assets with operational data, historical records,
