Football Theory Work

Lesson 1 – Fundamentals
Questions:
1. How many players are there (on one team) in a game football?
2. 11
3. Name two different parts of the foot we can use when passing the ball?
a) top foot
b) side foot

4. If we are looking to shoot at the goal, using power, what part of the foot
would we use?
Top or side foot it depends on the player
5. If we are closer to the goal and we want to use accuracy to guide the ball
into the corner of the net, which part of the foot would we likely use?
Side foot

6. Every time Ahmed shoots, his ball goes well over the cross bar and he
completely misses the target. Give Ahmed one piece of advice to keep his
shots down.

7. Explain the offside rule, using your own words?

When a player is alone with the goalkeeper before passing the ball
8. In the formation 4-4-2, there would be 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2
attackers. This does not factor in the goalkeeper who will also be starting
on the field of play.

On the pitch below, use the following positions listed in the box to the right of
the diagram to label them on the pitch.
You can use the abbreviations (e.g CM, LM, ST) to save space. Positions should
be labelled in the ‘4-4-2’ formation (2 marks)

He needs to be in a very rough physique and he has to think smart how to not
cause a near freekick or a penalty
10.What attributes would you say are most important for Positions
a right or left midfielder? Think about everything from Goalkeep
the player’s physique to what skills they need for that er (GK)
position. Explain your answer (4 points) Left back
