I believe the purposes of education are to help expand and create better and newer
thinking to help oneself and help better the world. The purpose of education is to teach
us about important factors of life and how to prepare and learn from our mistakes and
wins in life. Education allows us to be think in more depth on current events and things
going on in life. Education makes us smarter by teaching us how to read, write and
interact amongst our peers in school. Lastly, education makes us better humans as we
know when something is wrong and education teaches how to problem solve which is
then applied to real life every single day. Education makes us learn something new every
single day as the human brain can learn as much information they want to. We are
human sponges and we can learn whatever we want to.
I believe students learn best when students are learning through interactive and
engaging learning with groups of students. This is because when students work together,
they learn from each other and know who is right or wrong. Also, students who are more
advanced in a subject in a project can help the struggling students and help them be
involved. Group work also helps with problem solving as 2 heads are better than one
when problem solving. When students are working with the correct people, everyone
wins and everyone learns and that should be the goal for every teacher. Students learn
best when big distractions are out the of the way and put away which increases student
attention, student growth and progress in class.
I believe a good learning environment is one in which the teacher knows how to create
a lesson that keeps the students actively engaged. A good learning environment involves
every student feeling safe, accepted and cared for. A class where everyone is able to
learn the equal way from every student. The setup of the class where every student is
engaged. As well as the teacher making sure everyone is treated equally for both good
and bad behavior. A good learning environment also consists of the teacher creating a
safe and welcoming classroom that has no room for any negativity and bullying. Having a
classroom that anyone can come in at during lunch if they have no one to talk to or
offering personal help if students are having a rough time in life as well.
I believe that teachers should have the following qualities: caring, honest, respectful and
fun. A teacher that is caring means a teacher that wants to know how you are feeling
and to be there for you if you are feeling down or even having a great day. A honest
teacher is super important because a teacher that is honest with their class whether it’s
putting their foot down and telling that class they need to reconsider their actions is
better than a teacher who doesn’t care for student progress. A respectful teacher knows
their boundaries with the students and knows when and when not to ask if they need
help. A fun teacher makes school fun for the class because they know it’s the best way
for student engagement. I believe teachers should also show some tough love meaning
that they really care about you and your future but also pushes you to do more and do
your best as you will benefit and grow more as a student and learner each day with a
teacher having a quality like this.
I believe teachers should assess their practice and strive to improve by being engaging
in students passions and pushing students to strive for their dreams. I believe teachers
should reflect every week to check in on themselves and grade themselves as to what
went well that week and what they can improve in the class for the next weeks. I believe
teachers should have a goal of if students need extra help and to help any student who is
struggling and needs it. They should also make learning fun as not only do students learn
better they pay more attention and care more about it. Teachers should make their
lessons and work reasonable to student growth and having check ups on students
progress to make sure all students are succeeding.
