Jack: Hello, Jack speaking.
Megan: Hello jack, it’s me Megan. How are you?
Jack: I’m good! How are you and your brother?
Megan: I’m very good. He is getting better, he is taking medicines.
Megan: What are you doing? Are you busy now?
Jack: No, I’m not. I’m just relaxing and playing some games.
Megan: Very nice. Look! What are you doing tonight?
Jack: I don’t have plans, but I think I’m eating something different tonight.
Megan: I want to eat something different too. Let’s go to that new restaurant?
Jack: Tonight! I am going with you. I’m taking you in your house at 8 p.m. ok?
Megan: I’m waiting for you, Jack.

Jack: What are you eating tonight?
Megan: I’m eating fish tonight, I love fish.
Jack: I love fish too, but tonight I’m trying this new T-bone.

beaches and probably we are going to a big party on Sunday night.
Megan: Sure, I’m travelling with you. I’m already anxious.
Jack: We are having much fun next weekend, my friends are all nice people.

PRESENT CONTINUOUS (ING)
AM / IS / ARE + verb + ING
We use this verbal tense to express actions in progress. Basically there are three ideas.
1 - Actions that are in progress, at the moment someone is saying the sentence.
Jack is talking to Megan now.
Megan is eating fish at the moment.
Bob is watching TV at present.
What are you doing now?
2- Future plans / arrangements (actions planned for a near future).
Jack is eating out tonight.
Megan is going to the beach this weekend.
Bob is travelling next month.
3- Current activities – Longer actions that are in progress and will finish some point in future.
Expressions: This month, this year, this afternoon. “I am taking English classes this year”.

Normally we use ING in the final of the verb, but in some cases, we have to pay attention.
A- Final E
I am working now
Come – coming
Live – living
Dance – dancing
I working now
Be – being (exception)
See – seeing (exception)
B – Final IE, we use YING I am work now
Lie – lying
Die – dying
C – Consonant + vowel + consonant (CVC)
Get – Getting
Run – Running
Cut – Cutting
D – More than one syllable with CVC in the final, we double the last letter if it is stressed.
preFER, perMIT, beGIN, - preferring, permitting, beginning
E – If the final is not stresses, we don’t double.
VIsit, HAPpen, deVElop, - visiting, happening, developing.
F – W, X and Y in the final, we don’t double.
Play – playing
Snow – snowing
Fix – fixing
We never use ING with some verbs, abstract verbs and stative verbs.
Abstract: to want, to cost, to exist, to need, to contain.
Stative: to like, to love, to fear, to hate.
Have – We use HAVE in the ING form only if it is expressing an action: E.G:
He is having lunch. She is having a car.
They are having a discussion. I am having two jobs.
Note: If the verb TO HAVE is indicating possession, we do not use ING.

7 - Choose the correct form. Note that there are exceptions in spelling when adding 'ing.'
