THE HOLY SPIRIT
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “I
the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to
their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 17:9-10
One person can manage a smile another can put up a sly grin but their hearts are far away
from being good. Now God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in
Spirit and in truth.
The Heart is indeed desperately wicked and no one can understand it (the heart). We live
in a dark world (Isaiah 60:1-2). Now God being Spirit, He examines the heart of men to
reward each of them according to what their conducts deserve. God is not a man, like you
will have to meet Him in the flesh. Certainly not. He is Spirit and you can only meet God
when you too are in the Spirit, that is, the core of man and not in the soul (that is emotions,
will and intellect) or in the body.
On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,
Revelations 1:10
John writes of how when he was in the spirit, that the Lord manifested Himself to him. For
us to meet God, we must be in the Spirit also. Remember, man is; A spirit, he has a soul
and he lives in a body. When you die, that is the cessation of natural life, your spirit leaves
your body, for the body without the spirit is a dead body (James 2:26).
The good news however is that God (the Spirit) lives in you (your body) for your body is
the temple (house) of the Holy Spirit (God) (1 Cor 3:16). Your spirit, communes with the
Spirit of God to guide, to cheer, to counsel, to teach, to rebuke, to remind, to comfort etc
etc. And that is why you say “abba father”
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you
received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you
received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:14-16
We are children of God that is what the spirit part of us tells us (our true nature that is the
spirit part of us). Anything contrary to this is a lie from the devil, who wants to lie to us
that we are not children of God.
Stir up now this gift of the Holy Spirit that is in you. Commune with God and He will
reveal to you great and mighty things. Jesus said that it was for our betterment that he went
back to the father or else the Holy Spirit will not be sent. Indeed he had so much to tell us
but our spirits and souls (the mind) would not be able to bear it all. The Holy Spirit would
not have been sent if Jesus Christ was not yet glorified. But now Jesus was glorified and
we received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let
anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has
said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom
those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been
given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. John 7:37-39
This means we are much previledged to live in this dispensation of time to experience the
Holy Spirit. Now God has poured out His Spirit in us, rather He lives in us, to teach us how
to profit, among many other things and to tell us of things that freely belong to us
What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so
that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Cor 2:12
Now we know all things, because God-who is Omniscient, that is all knowing, knows all
things. Isn’t that exciting?
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you[a] know all things 1 John 2:20
And this Spirit that we have received is a gift from God, and the gifts and the callings of
God are without repentance/irrevocable (Romans 11:29). That means also, God would in
no wise take His Spirit away from you for that will mean the end of all help, wellness and
fellowship with God, just to mention but a few things that accompany your salvation.
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need
anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that
anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. 1 John 2:27
Well then, bear with me for I am a teacher of the word of God who has made me an abled
minister of the gospel. Not of the letter, but of the spirit. Allow me to teach you, so that
you may know this our God, know the things that have been given to you that pertain to
this life and godliness and also escape the corruption that is in the world. Through
knowledge, the righteous escape (Proverbs 11:9)
The life of man
What comes out of your mouth that is bottled up in your heart? Remember, the mouth does
not lie. That is a true and faithful saying. It is out of the abundance of the heart that the
mouth does speak.
The life of man is in the words of their mouth for out of it comes life or death, blessing or
curses. Guard your heart therefore with all due diligence for out of it comes the issues of
life. Keep your mouth from speaking that which is guile.
For “Whoever would love life and see many good days must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech. 1 Peter 3:10
Speak life and not curses and you will enjoy this life. Remember, it all comes from the
heart first before it proceeds out of your mouth. Many have been ensnared by the words
of their mouth
you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth. So do
this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands: Go—to
the point of exhaustion—and give your neighbor no rest! Proverbs 6:2-3
Good things come to you through the words of the mouth. Say “it shall be well with me”
(Isaiah 3:10)
From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things.. Proverbs 13:2
Speak life and see many days. Choose life. Many have picked wrong doctrines and wrong
perception and as it were, got to experience what they said. I appreciate the labor of scholars
and professionals in suggesting the life expectancies of mankind per time and location.
However, my bible which is the true and pure word of God tried in the fire even seven
times, has prescribed for us long life.
With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalms 91:16
God has prescribed long life to us and it is us to choose what we want. See the two
examples below
Moses
Moses lived for one hundred and twenty years because Moses said the life of mankind is
one hundred and twenty years.
Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are
mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.” Genesis 6:3
Moses died at one hundred and twenty years just as he had said
And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim,
nor his natural force abated. Deuteronomy 34:7
David
David lived for seventy years, because David believed that the life of mankind is only
seventy years, though by reason of their strength, they advance further in years
Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; Psalms 90:10
These were words of David the psalmist and that is what David experienced
The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in Hebron and
thirty-three years in Jerusalem. 1 Chronicles 29:27
Remember, David was thirty years old when he became king and he reigned for forty years.
He was seventeen years when he was anointed King by Samuel and thirteen years he was
put to flight by King Saul who sought his life before he became king at thirty years old.
So friend, these were two men who lived in different dispensations but served the same
God. God is faithful and good to all. He has compassion on all that He has made and He
will honor the decisions that you take. I believe also that many other people who were not
recorded in the bible held divergent perspective to this matter. The two above we were
privileged to know of was for our learning.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the
endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have
hope. Romans 15:4
So what proceeds out of your mouth that has been bottled up from your heart dear friend?
Is it life or is it death? Is it blessing or is it curses? For I am confidence of good things that
accompany your salvation. I am Jealous of you in a godly Jealousy
Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your
case—the things that have to do with salvation Hebrew 6:9
Speak good things now
Yours in the Lord
