Competency Disaster Preparedness

Rationale and Description

The Philippines is one of the world's most disaster prone
nations, and Dacudao Elementary School, as situated in elevated
landscape, is a none-exception. Earthquakes are common as we
also absorbs the full strength of typhoons that develop in the
Pacific Ocean which results to floods and landslides. Aside from
natural causes, the Philippines also experiences human‐induced
disasters which are brought about by hazards that are of political
and socio‐economic origins and inappropriate and ill‐applied
technologies. Many are forced to evacuate during times of
conflict. People die from earthquakes primarily because of the
collapse of substandard buildings. The health of people is
severely affected because of industrial and domestic waste that
pollutes the water, land and air.
Anent to this, and in pursuant to DepEd Order 21 series of
2015 entitled, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Coordination and Information Management Protocol, Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Coordinator will undertake the
maintenance of close coordination with local DRRM Council on the
conduct of preparedness activities and on response needs, among
others, and provide capacity building activities for teachers, non-
teaching staff and learners on DRRM, Dacudao Elementary School
