SUBJECT : ENGLISH CORE

A) Work to be done in English Notebook:
1. Read English Newspaper daily. Either the Hindu or Indian Express. Write only two words with their meanings & usages
daily in your English notebook. (Do this work date-wise).
2. Write short notes in 80 to 100 words on each of the following in your English notebook with reference to the chapters
mentioned:
a) Linguistic chauvinism (The last Lesson),
b) A person's thoughts about her ageing parents (My Mother at Sixty Six)
c) The impact of child labour on children & society (Lost Spring).
d) The tendency to escape from the anxiety of modern life (The Third Level).
e) Conceit & arrogance of those in power (The Tiger King). Relate the same with present politics.
3. Write a movie review (any motivational like 12th Fail) in 200 words in your English Notebook. Also develop a brief
character sketch of the protagonist.

 5. Solve and practice of NCERT solved examples and exercise numericals of chapter 1 and chapter 2 in holidays

6. Learn the following long questions and write in holiday homework note book:-

1. To solve all the intext and exercise questions of chapter HALOALKANES AND HAHALOARENES, ALCOHOLS
,PHENOLS AND ETHERS & BIOMOLECULES .
2. To collect or download 5 last year question papers..
3. To prepare an investigatory report on the topic given….(Roll No. Wise)
Few suggested Projects.
• Study of the presence of oxalate ions in guava fruit at different stages of ripening.
• Study of quantity of casein present in different samples of milk.
• Preparation of soyabean milk and its comparison with the natural milk with respect to curd formation,
effect of temperature, etc.
• Study of the effect of Potassium Bisulphate as food preservative under various conditions (temperature,
concentration, time, etc.)
• Study of digestion of starch by salivary amylase and effect of pH and temperature on it.
• Comparative study of the rate of fermentation of following materials: wheat flour, gram flour, potato
juice, carrot juice, etc.
• Extraction of essential oils present in Saunf (aniseed), Ajwain (carum), Illaichi (cardamom).
• Study of common food adulterants in fat, oil, butter, sugar, turmeric power, chilli powder and pepper.
Note: Any other investigatory project, which involves about 10 periods of work, can be chosen with the
approval of the teacher
4.To learn new skills during summer break and make a small video( 30 seconds) on it.

General Instructions

 Select the topic carefully as it is important to have through knowledge of the content so as to present you
confidently in the VIVA.
 The project length should neither be too long nor too small. Generally it should range between 50-60 pages.
 Matter should be written on one side of the paper and Diagrams/Flow charts/Schedule should be made the flip
side only.
 Leave a margin of one inch on left side of the page for spiral binding.
 Project should be neat and systematically presented.
 Avoid excessive colouring and decorating the project.
 Use new ideas and creativity to make your project attractive.
 Avoid overwriting and use of white ink.
 Case study or Research is compulsory.
 It is compulsory to submit the final project by first week of July Month 2024.
