Climbers are the long, slender plants with thin green stems and they grow using a
support. Eg. money plant, bottle gourd plant, cucumber
Creepers are the long, slender plants with thin green stems and they parallel and
close to the ground. Eg. Pumpkin, watermelon
Q5 In what different ways roots are modified? Give one example for each. (3)
Roots of different plants are modified in various ways:
a) Storage: Roots store food and swell. Eg. Carrot
b) Support: Roots of banyan tree grow down and support the branches of the
tree.
c) Breathing roots: Roots of mangroves grow out of the soil and help in
breathing.
