01)Abstract

Globalization is not limit for one country or one area. It is commonly impact to all people , all
countries in the world. As a short explaining to globalization, it is all countries in world connect
as a one country for all industries. In there all barriers in countries which had disturbed t
connect with other countries removed by globalization. By this research article has examined
how impacted globalization to local culture and tradition. By there, the impacts of globalization
affected to culture and tradition of countries as well as bad. Not only that ,this research article
has showed how to manage pros and cons of globalization to continue people’s lives in modern
world. For this research article data collected according to daily living systems of Sri Lankan
people. In there, data collected by internet and international magazines. The preliminary result
of this research article show that people have given a full idea how manage pros and cons of
globalization for success their lives as match to modern world. In there people are able to
understand impacts of globalization their lives from previously. The conclusion can be refer to
impact of globalization to local culture and tradition of countries in the world. The researcher of
this article recommend to people, if good things have in globalization, that things are added to
cultures and traditions. Also that bad things in globalization must reject in that moment.

02.1). introduction of globalization.

Globalization is a serious concept. Globalization doesn’t impact only one country or one
field. It commonly impacts all countries and all fields. According to Peterson Institute for
International economics, globalization is the growing interdependence of world economic,
population, international trades and other sectors. This introduction is unable to

understand to common people. Therefor as a short introduction of globalization,

globalization is all countries in the world become a universal village. In there barriers in
countries which had disturbed to connect with world removed by globalization. Therefor
all countries in the world have able to connect with other nations and deal with them.
actually globalization gives more benefits and more losses to countries in the world.

02.2) Beginning of globalization

According to the history, ‘Industrial Revolution’ started about 17 century in Great Britain. It
was the foundation of globalization. Industrial revolution didn’t limit one field. It impacted
all fields in countries. As an example, in the past transport services, communication, science
and technology had a primary level. Each so with beginning of industrial revolution, that
situation fully changed. As a result of these , inventors and scientists in the world in that
term, they came forward to find newly things which hadn’t found anyone till that era. As a
result of that, lot of new foundations introduced to the world. Also owners of companies
helped to them for that and that businessmen created that items in their companies.
Therefore lot of new creations arrived to that countries markets more than demand of that
creations. Therefore owners of companies had to find new markets to sell their
productions. Because they tried their to supply their productions to global market. In there,
they had to face a big problem. That problem is ‘how will the other countries people’s
reaction for their productions?’ other countries people didn’t know about industrial
revolution. Therefore that businessmen have to give attention about globalization concept.
Actually they had known, if this action was success, they would increase their profits more

For spread of globalization, colonization of western nations has mainly impacted. For
showing their power to other nations, powerful countries caught powerless countries. After
catch that countries, powerful countries had to introduce their things to powerless
countries for ruling that countries. In there they introduced ruling systems, religions,
exporting trade items and many things. With these things, impacts of globalization affected
to that subjugated countries. Therefore people of that countries were able to feel a newly
experience. Until that thing introduced them, they had never heard what’s globalization.
Each so people of that countries welcomed globalization to their countries well like other
countries. Actually they hadn’t been knowing bad impact of globalization. Owners of multi-
national companies and foreign rulers didn’t give a comprehension to them. The people in
powerless countries had thought, Globalization is a gift of GOD. They didn’t think bad
impacts of globalization because they hadn’t had an idea about that path. However owners
of companies could able to success their dreams which had thought as previously. (Aslam.A

Globalization has aimed it’s impacts commonly for countries, people, cultures, traditions,
industries, religious and other important fields in the world. That impacts are possible good
or bad. As results of globalization, all fields in the world had to huge translation. Because of
good impact of globalization, people’s living situations has changed with good and bad

Globalization has aimed its impacts commonly all sectors in countries. Because of
globalization, countries and people have got a quick development in all fields. Also
countries and people have to face bad impacts of globalizations as good impacts. Therefor
they have given more attention to manage bad and good impacts of globalization. According

As good side of globalization, firstly countries can able to take modern technology for local
industries. Usually powerful and richness countries in the world tested new technologies
for fastest their works. Therefore most valuable creations and instruments introduced to
the world. That’s were most important to other countries to improve their technical
sectors. Not only that countries are able to import good and quality materials for their
producing processes. By this, that countries can able to supply quality productions to their
local market. Furthermore that countries could supply quality goods and services to global
market according to global demands. As a result of this, that countries income levels are
grown and people of that countries living positions. Not only that, if countries produce
exporting good by quality materials, that countries can able to win global customer’s trust.
Also that heathy situations of people’s are more improving because using quality goods and
services. Therefore customer’s demand don’t go down as other productions. They usually
believe about quality of goods. If merchant sectors of countries supply goods and services
according to customer’s needs, they can able to show good improvement within long termly
customer’s unbroken trust. Not only that, because of establish new factories, lot of job
opportunities have created. For that job opportunities are helped to give a relief mentally
pressure of jobless people in the country. By these, countries can solve and give provable
answer to segregated problem immediately. Also that small businessmen in country are
able to improve their skills. By today many educational institutes which give basic
knowledge of business improvement has established island wide. Those businessmen can
give extra knowledge in that institutes and can able to use that knowledge for improve their
business. In that institutes, businessmen can able to find their handing skills and they train
to think as entrepreneurs. If they improve their entrepreneurship skills, they are able to
transfer their business to large scale business. Then they can transfer as job makers.

Therefore they become valuable persons in countries. Good example for this, Mr. Hinni
Appuhami who was founder of Maliban company. He had taken his education till Gread 3.
But his merchant knowledge and entrepreneurship skills, he became famous businessman.
In his term, globalization don’t spread as present moment. But he took benefits of
globalization for improving his business. By today his productions are famous worldwide.

According to that details, people can able to accept, merchant sector of countries can do
special things from countries because of impact of globalization. Not only that, trained and
experienceable labourers have good demand in global market. Richest countries in the
world have established new factories, that countries are unable to find labourers to work in
their companies. Therefore they have to find workers by another countries. In there they
give more attention about professional skills of labourers. If countries can supply labourers
with full talented, that counties can able to earn lo of foreign exchange. That exchange can
use for development of countries. Not only that lot of foreign invests receive to country for
rapidly development processes. Therefore government receive a chance to start new
development projects island wide. Also that new factories have established island wide as a
result of foreign investments. Therefore people in country can able to work in that

04.2) Bad impacts of globalization for countries and people

Globalization affect to countries as badly as well. According to Investropedia website,

globalization can destroy countries as can develop countries. As badly impacts of
globalization, countries lose their trained manpower because of globalization. Therefore
developed countries in the world pay good salaries with all facilities for trained labourers.
Therefore that labourers transmissioned their countries because they receive real value in
developed countries. Because of that situation, if countries need supply labourers for their
countries development processing, that countries have to find trained manpower by other
countries or have to train another labourers with extra cost. Not only that countries have to
protect their natural resources by powerful countries. After knowing about natural
resources of countries, the richest and powerful countries try to acquire that resources in
developing countries across legal or illegal actions. Final result of this, real owners lose

By today, that countries have received their freedom, but they have unable to win full
ownership of natural resources yet. In today, natural resources of Africa use by powerful
countries. Unfortunately situation of this, if African countries need to use that natural
resources, they have to take permission by powerful countries or have to rebuy that
resources by them. Because of dark impact of globalization, they lose their own natural
resources. Not only that local small businessmen have to face bad impacts as good impacts.
Local productions of small businessman lose market because of foreign goods. Costumers
believe, foreign goods are more quality than local goods. Therefore they welcome foreign
goods and reject local productions. Therefore local production’s demand fall down and local
small businessmen are discouraged.

Not only that people of countries addict to an unnecessary usage. Therefore that people’s
living cost is increased and that people suffer lot of non - communicable diseases. Therefore

Local culture has added many newly things because of globalization. Therefor local cultures
mix other cultures signs and some ancient rituals lose in culture. Because of globalization,
local culture has aimed good and bad impacts like countries and people’s lives. Spread of
globalization, countries in the world met face to face. In there, differences cultures of
countries were mixed. As a result of that, many different cultures spread worldwide. With
foreign invasions of western nations, culture mixing processing started in Sri Lanka. By
today, in Sri Lankan culture has had large differences. In festival moments, that culture
mixture opportunities have showed among other cultural opportunities. Not only that
globalization had aimed to religions of country. It is proved by wall arts of Ridee Vihara in

other cultures. Therefore people of world are able to increase their knowledge about other

cultures. Also that, entertainment skills of people’s is to be improve because of culture

exchange. By these, that people are going to follow that cultures. As another good impact of

these, Sri Lanka had a colonial in Portugal, Nederland and Great Britian. In that eras, Sri
Lankan culture added some things. In Portugal ruling era, they introduced many kinds of
food in Sri Lankan culture. In present, we eat in festival seasons or any important
opportunities “cake and Kokis” introduced by Portugues. Also Oland era, they introduced
roman catholic doctrine to Sri Lanka. In Britian era introduced democratic ruling system to
Sri Lanka. Therefor people can explain, lot of benefits of globalization had received to local
culture in colonization eras. Not only that, globalization is a good opportunity for
researchers. They can continue their researchers about cultures in the world and they can

give special attention from protection of culture. By these culture is protect form next
generation. Not only that, culture revitalization is other important benefit of globalization.
By culture revitalization, people in the world can regenerate their ancient culture heritages
and they can promote that heritages in global community. By this, attention of global
community receive that countries and they stand up from protection of that countries
traditional heritages. According to this things, value of cultures are blending because of
globalization. Not only that, globalization is going to help increase interaction between
people from different cultures.

Therefore people in the world getting used to admire differences of human. Also they follow
and add other countries rituals, fashion designs, rituals, ethics to their cultures. Because of
this things, people in the world can able to spend their lives in multi- culturable and
civilizational society without difficult of ethnic and traditional. Not only that people in
society can able to learn foreign languages as a result of globalization. Good example for
that, as a result of globalization, foreign nations had arrived to our country. In there they
introduced their languages to Sri Lankans. Portuguese introduced language of Portugal,
Oland introduced languages of Netherland and Great Britain introduced English language.
By today English language has become official language of world. If people want to deal
with other nation in the world, they have to learn English language. Not only that writing
and speaking skills of English language has become necessary qualification of job
interviews. Also that English language knowledge is be most important in higher education

Globalization affect its impacts for local culture badly as good things. First one of bad
impact of globalization of local culture is clash civilization. People live in society, they have
to supply many things for continue their lives. Example for this people need to find meals
and water for continue lives. It is not a privet thing of one person and commonly it is be a
public problem which is everyone has to face. Because of clash civilization, lot of people
lives are lost to the world. Sri Lankans had to face for this clash civilization 15 years ago.
Because of civil war of Sri Lankan government and LTTE organization, lot of young people,
wise persons, valuable persons in both sides lost to mother land. According to UN
resources, 80000 to 100000 people had died in Sri Lanka because of civil war. [ Krista

Not only that, widening of inequalities is another dark side of globalization. In there, the

of richest can get regular education in famous institutes and children in poorest children
have lost that opportunity. In the other hand, social crimes have increased as a result of
widening of inequalities. Not only that, spreading of narcotics has taken main spot for
increase of social crimes. Actually narcotics arrived to our country with colonization era. By
today many kinds of narcotics are arriving in country. Therefore local culture has destroyed
more than past term.

Not only that, local culture has to face ecological impacts because of dark side of
globalization. Because of ecological impacts, biodiversity in environment is lost.
Furthermore environment is unable to continue sustainable environmental system. For
that, human activities have affected directly. Because damage of environment which had
done by human, the nature gives punishments as natural calamities. Also that toxic waste
affects for ecological impacts. In there, non- beneficial garbage dump to environment as
regularly and therefore environment has polluted. Not only that globalization had aimed its
impacts in families. With increase of technology side, people have changed as machines. By
today people run behind money. They have forgotten their families and their humanity.
Some parents work in day times in their work hours and then they work extra periods from
overrate salary. They devote the time which had used to stay with family members, form
earn money. Also that children have addicted to play video games in their valuable time.
Therefore education of them has broken down because anyone don’t give more attention
for this problem specially that children’s parents. Also that people lose their humanity
because of globalization. In present moment, people try to earn money however kill the
human. Actually someone accidented in road at night, anyone don’t carry on to admit in
hospital. They go out that place like unseen that accident. Actually humanity signs of Sri

06). Impact of globalization for tradition

Globalization aim its impact to tradition of country most likely local culture and people in
country. Actually changes of tradition started with invasions of south Indians. That
situation increased more than with invasions of Western countries. Like other sectors,
globalization has aimed good impacts and bad impacts to tradition of country. by good
impacts of globalization, tradition is added more advantages. Also bad impact of
globalization to tradition, traditions of countries are destroyed. Because of globalization,
traditions in the all countries in the world are mixed and therefore lot of newly things,
rituals and many opportunities add to tradition. Also that have a possibility to lose ancient

As good impacts of globalization, firstly, people in county can able to communicate

traditional details to people in the world. In the past, people in other countries didn’t know
about other countries traditions.

But now, because of improvement of science and technology, people who live in any place in
the world have able to take details about other traditions by internet. Therefore attention of

people’s in other countries have received to that countries and they follow that traditional
rituals and festivals alone. Therefore that traditional rituals and festivals have received a
value in global human society. Not only that newly things in foreign traditions can follow
within necessary changes because of globalization. Therefore people in country are able to
feel newly experience as benefit of globalization. Also our country has Buddhism base
tradition. Therefore people of Sri Lanka had good behavior system since ancient eras. Each
so after that arriving of foreign aggressors, they introduced European traditional behavior
system to Sri Lanka. In quality signs in that system were added to traditional society in Sri
Lanka. Therefore Sri Lankan have welcomed that thing as their own things. As a good
example of changes of tradition, in the past people in Sri Lanka wear “Saron” by male and
“saree” by female. Each so that becoming a colonial in European. They introduced western
clothes to Sri Lankan. By today people in Sri Lanka wear that westernclothes better than
introducers. Also that art sector of country developed because of globalization. Artists in
country receive a chance to take international knowledge about their subjects and follow
famous artist’s creations and learn most things about that sector. Therefore art creations in

Globalization has aimed its impact to traditions badly as good side. Firstly bad habits in
other traditions are added to local tradition. As example for this, people in Sri Lanka
celebrated their functions according to religiously.

Eash so foreign aggressors came to country as a result of spread in globalization, that

situation was changed rapidly. By today people in Sri Lanka give main place for alcohol
productions in their functions. Therefore lot of social and traditional problems have had in
society in Sri Lanka. Not only that spread of other religions aimed a big shot to tradition of

Sri Lanka. With arriving of foreign aggressors, they introduced their religions to the
country. not only that that invaders destroyed many religious, ancient places in Sri Lanka.
Therefore religious in country had to face many different situations as a result of spread of
globalization. Further more foreign aggressors destroyed lot of literary creations.
Therefore sector of local literary aimed a big shot because of dark side in

And also, people in country welcomed foreign festivals, rituals and lot of other things as a
result of globalization. In there they removed ancient rituals, traditional festivals like
removing clothes. Therefore that ancient rituals and traditional festivals have been losing in
Sri Lankan human society. Not only that people in Sri Lanka began to follow western habits
and therefore they have forgotten their own habits. Therefore humanity skills of Sri Lankan
have lost as unfortunately. Not only that Western culture and values have become more
dominant, many traditional practices and customs have been eroded or lost altogether. As a
result of these, value of tradition have fell down more than past period. That everything are
dark side of globalization in tradition. According to that things people can able to accept,

Globalization aim its impacts to countries and people, local culture and society and
tradition. Sometimes that impacts affect as good or bad. People in countries must decide to
use impact of globalization form their future. The researcher’s opinion is people should
take uses of globalization as collect bee’s honey in beehive. After collect honey, beehive
must throw. Unless anyone does it, he will bite by bees. Like that anyone fully embraces
globalization, he or she is faced to good and bad impacts of globalization.

That are commonly affect to local culture, countries in the world and traditions in country.
people in society should know to think before accept everything in the globalization to the
local culture as present in globalization. In that people must reject bad things in
globalization and should only accept benefits of globalization. Also that, among impacts of
globalization for tradition in country, should accept good signs in globalization to tradition
and must reject bad and harmful signs in globalization in tradition.

If people follow this guidelines, people can able to control dangerous situations of
traditions, culture, human and country which aimed as results of globalization. according to
that guidelines, if people were success, people in country can able to feel real benefits of
globalization. People in other countries can follow this guidelines, because globalization
commonly impact all countries in the world. If they follow that guidelines regularly, people
in the world are able to receive good opportunity to feel miracle of globalization in all
sectors in the world.

Globalization has helped to increase of economical growth in countries. With

mechanization countries can able to grow their producing processes rapidly. Therefore
daily income of people in countries and gross domestic production have increased since
