DESCRIPTION

The Limar Hydraulic Jar is designed to provide optimum upward jarring impact force, especially when used
in conjunction with the correct limar accelerator sub.

The jar incorporates both a hydraulic and mechanical section improving reliability and performance in
both oil and gas wells.

By maintaining an overpull the jar will trip and “fire” the jar in a rapid upwards motion. the jar is then
simply re-cocked by setting down toolstring weight to relatch the body to the jar rod.

Unlike most jars available on the market the jar collet latch mechanism is placed in the upper section of the
jar housing. this makes the jar less prone to failure by the incursion of debris in and around the latch
mechanism after tripping and firing.

MAINTENANCE

LIMAR recommends that the Hydraulic Jar is disassembled after each operation to check all parts for wear or
any signs of corrosion. Refer to the disassembly and assembly instructions in this manual for details.

Use Redress Kits supplied from LIMAR.

Use suitable grease during assembly to lubricate all moving parts.

1. To Release Jar Rod prior to Disassembly insert Pin Punch through “J”slots in Collet Body (11) into
Spring Retainer (3) pull back and lock into “J” slots.

FILLING AND BLEEDING THE PISTON HOUSING

13. Place The Piston Housing (9) upright in a vice with the Piston Top Sub (5) Fully Extended.

Slowly Fill The Piston Housing (9) with

Hydraulic Oil to the level shown.

Allow any air bubbles to

migrate to surface before
moving going to next step.

14. Install Top Sub (1) without fully making up all the way into the Piston Housing (9).

15. Invert The Piston assembly and secure in the vice.

Fully depress the Piston Top Sub (5)

into The Piston Housing (9).

Back off Bleed Screw (4) slowly After venting air from Piston
to allow trapped air to vent. Housing close Bleed Screw.
CAUTION : Back off slowly.

16. Fully tighten top Sub (1) into Piston Housing (9) and insert Grub Screws (18) into Piston Housing (9).
