RESEARCH ABOUT MAKING BRICKS DILUTING PLASTIC WRAPPERS

Introduction :

Plastic waste which is increasing day by day becomes eyesore and in turn pollutes the environment,
especially in high mountain villages where no garbage collection system exists. A large amount of plastic
is being brought into the tourist trekking regions are discarded or burned which leads to the
contamination of environment and air. Hence, these waste plastics are to be effectively utilised. High-
density of plastic wastes are cleaned and added with sand and aggregate at various percentages to
obtain high strength bricks that possess thermal and sound insulation properties to control pollution and
to reduce the overall cost of construction, this is one of the best ways to avoid the accumulation of
plastic waste which is an on-degradable pollutant. This alternatively saves the quanta of sand/clay that
has to be taken away from the precious river beds/mines. The plastic waste is naturally available in
surplus quantity and hence the cost factor comes down. Also Colouring agents can be added to the
mixture to attain desired shades. Hence in this thesis, an attempt is made to study regard the properties
of the brick which is manufactured using plastic wastes.

Materials used :

 Plastic Wrapper
 Cement
 Fine Sand
 Water

Procedure of making bricks using plastic wrappers.

Experiment #1

Type A.

1 cup plastic wrapper

3 cups of sand

1 1/2 cup of cement

1 cup of water
Type B.

2 cups of sand

2 cups of cement

2 cups plastic wrapper

1 1/2 cup of water

Type C.

2 1/2 cup of sand

2 1/2 cup of cement

1 1/2 cup of plastic wrapper

1 1/2 cup of water

Experiment #2

Type A .

4 cups of sand

2 cups of cement

3 cups plastic

2 1/2 water

Type B.

3 1/2 sand

3 cement

2 1/2 wrapper

2 water
Type C.

1 cup cement

1 1/2 wrapper

1 cup water

Experimental Procedure :

The first experiment shows the 1 cup plastic wrapper ,3 cups of sand , 11/2 cup of cement , 1 cup of
water . I conclude that the result bricks that have been made is strength . Because when we try to
measure his rigidibiluty is higher . Then the second experiment with the ratio of 2 cups of sand , 2 cups
of cement , 2 cups of plastic wrapper , 1 1/2 cup of water .After the bricks are curing the result of the
rigidibility and and strength dexmcrease . Therefore if we increase the quantity of the plastic wrapper ,
the result posibility will deteriorate according to the presence quantity of plastice wrapper

Conclusion / Observation :

According to our research , after conducting a testing on each bricks , we found that our experiment the
result was good ,we tried to drop above of one meter and the bricks unharmed.

So we conclude that it is nice to continue this project inform others to do the same so we can help to
minimize the pollution in our society collecting plastic wastes for recycling that can give us beneficial at
the same time we can benefit it from ,using it personal or selling it to earn extra income .The ratio of the
mixture that we use is credible for future generation .
