Letter Of Intent for Dr Ali Ali
Dear Madam / Sir,
I am writing this letter of intent to express my interest in your family medicine program which is
my first choice institution for the 2024 academic year.
My interest in family medicine started during my rotations in medical school, when I became
aware of the continuous and comprehensive care to patients of all ages that are provided by
family physicians. The cholera outbreak in Syria last year helped me to take the decision to
pursue family medicine as my chosen career path when I witnessed how fundamental family
medicine doctors are in the healthcare system whether by screening patients, diagnosing
conditions, referring patients to more specialist doctors, vaccinating and providing preventative
healthcare advice to patients.
Your family medicine program particularly attracted my interest because of its focus on the
patient-physician relationship. I witnessed how important the relationship with patients is to
effective medical practice during my additional work at the Syrian Cancer Society where I
regularly do home visits, including to end-stage cancer patients. Further improving my
communication skills with patients is one of my principal objectives in order to improve the
quality of medical care I am able to provide. In addition, family medicine also offers a doctor the
opportunity to cooperate with fellow doctors and healthcare professionals. After making
several referrals to specialist doctors myself, I derived satisfaction from providing patients with
the healthcare they required from the appropriate specialist without undue delay.
I hold the residency program in Qatar in very high regard both through my own research and
anecdotally from fellow doctors who have been educated at your institution. Should my
application be successful, I would be eager to take advantage of the quality of education and
facilities provided by the institution. I would also highly appreciate the opportunity to
undertake a residency program abroad which would enable me to broaden my horizons both
professionally and personally.
Finally, my journey with HMC so far has not been exclusively professional, it has also included
self-discovery and self-development, which has given me the confidence to believe that I have
the necessary attitude, ability to learn and potential to take full advantage of the opportunity
which a residency program in Qatar would provide.
