Management Structure az Farmers Development Cooperative Union (FDCU) is an association affiliate Multipurpose Cooperative Societies that have come together for the purpose of supporting each other to attain Social and Economic Empowerment through pooling together their resources together to engage in businesses or economic activities. FDCU drives a selfish Zambian agenda of promoting Investment in Zambians by Zambians for Zambia through its affiliates. FDCU does not believe that money makes money but strongly believes that numbers makes money. It is for this reason that FDCU has put in place a robust affiliate recruitment program. FDCU was registered by the Registrar of Cooperatives in January 2023 and by the end of February 2024 it had 26,712 Affiliate Cooperatives. Men and women serving as elected representatives are accountable to the membership. 3" Principle: Member Economic Participation + Members contribute equitably to, and democratically control, the capital of FDCU, At least part of that capital is the common property of the Union. Members receive limited compensation, if any, on capital subscribed as a condition of membership. Members allocate surpluses for any or all of the following purposes: developing Union, possibly by setting up reserves, part of which at least would be indivisible; benefiting members in proportion to their transactions with the Union: and supporting other activities approved by the membership, Mission and Values 4* Principle: Autonomy and Independence + FDCU is an autonomous, self-help organizations controlled by its members. If it enters into agreements with other organizations, including governments, or raise capital from external sources, it does so on terms that ensure democratic control by their members and maintain its autonomy. 5** Principle: Education, Trai g and Information * FDCU provides mentorship and training for its members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so that they can contribute effectively to the development of the Union. 6* Principle: Co-operation among Co-operatives + FDCU serve its members most effectively and strengthen the co-operative movement by working together through local, national, regional and international structures. Hence this is foundation of the establishment of the FDCU. 7* Principle: Concern for Community + FDCU works for the sustainable development of its communities through policies approved by their members. A prosperous, economically diversified and industrialized resilient Zambia with thriving citizens through dynamic sustainable Cooperative Enterprises. Driving a selfish Zambian agenda that promotes of Investment in Zambian FDCU Affiliates by Zambians for Zambia there by stimulating sustainable national social empowerment, economic diversification, industrialization and economic resilience. This is achieved through pooling together Zambian professional resource to drive the agenda with the support from cooperating partners and funding agencies.
