Malin Kundang
a. Once upon a time, on the north coast of Sumatera lived a poor woman and his son, who
called Malin Kundang. His Father eventually died, and his mother lived alone as a
poverty-stricken old woman. Malin Kundang grew up as a skillful young boy. He always
helps his mother to earn some money.
b. One day, when Malin Kundang was sailing, he saw a merchant’s ship being raided by a
band of pirates. With his bravery, Malin Kundang helped the merchant defeat the
pirates. To thank him, the merchant allowed Malin Kundang to sail with him. Malin
Kundang agreed in the hope to get a better life. He left his mother alone.
c. Many years later, Malin Kundang became wealthy. He had a huge ship and a lot of crews
who worked loading trading goods. He was also married to a beautiful woman. When he
was sailing on his trading journey, his ship landed on a coast near a small village.
d. The local people recognized that it was Malin Kundang, a boy from the area. The news
ran fast in the town; “Malin Kundang has become rich and now he is here”. An old
woman, who was Malin Kundang’s mother, ran to the beach to meet the new rich
merchant. She wanted to hug him to release her sadness of being lonely after a long
time.
e. When his mother came near him, Malin Kundang who was with his beautiful wife and his
ship crew denied that she was his mother. She had pleaded Malin Kundang to look at her
and admit that she was her mother. But he kept refusing to do it and yelling at her. At
last Malin Kundang said to her “Enough, old woman! I have never had a mother like you,
a dirty and ugly woman!” After that he ordered his crews to set sail to leave the old
woman who was then full of sadness and anger.
f. Finally, feeling enraged, she cursed Malin Kundang that he would turn into a stone if he
didn’t apologize to her. Malin Kundang just laughed and set sail. Suddenly a
thunderstorm came in the quiet sea, wrecking his huge ship. He was thrown out to a
small island. It was really too late for him to avoid his curse, he had turned into a stone.

Sleeping Beauty

a. Once upon a time, a king and a queen had a beautiful baby daughter. They gave a wonderful
party for the new princess. All the important men, women, and fairies came with presents.
Everybody gave presents to the baby princess. The seven good fairies gave the princess
magic presents.
b. The bad fairy disappeared. The seventh fairy didn’t give the princess her present. She said
“Don’t worry. Here’s my present. The Princess won’t die. She will sleep for hundred years.
Then a prince will kiss her and she will wake up. The whole kingdom will sleep with her”. The
King wanted the people to burn all the spinning wheels.
c. It was Princess’s fifteenth birthday. All the men, women, and fairies were invited. While
wandering the castle princess saw stairs. She got curious and followed it. The stairs led her
to a room at the top of the tower. The princess opened the door. She saw an old woman with
a spinning wheel. The old woman asked the princess to try spinning. She went to the
spinning wheel and pricked her finger.
d. The princess fell into a deep, deep sleep. The fairies took her to the bed and laid her on
it. Everyone in the kingdom also fell asleep. A magic forest of thick thrones grew around the
castle. A hundred years went by. The Sleeping Princess was just a story. One day, a prince
came by to find the sleeping princess.
e. The prince cut down the thick forest. He went into the castle. He found the sleeping princess.
She was so beautiful that he fell in love with her. The prince kissed the princess. It was a
magic kiss.
f. The princesses wake up. She saw the prince. He was very handsome. She fell in love with the
prince. when the princess woke up, everyone in the kingdom woke up. The king and queen
were very happy when they saw the handsome prince. The prince and princess married and
lived happily ever after.

The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe

a. During World War II, four siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy were sent to live in the
country with Professor Kirke. They explored the house on their first day, and Lucy, the
youngest, discovered an enormous wardrobe,
b. She stepped inside, and to her amazement, she found herself in a snowy forest in a magical
land called Narnia. Soon after arriving there, she (quite literally) bumps into a faun (half-man,
half-goat) named Mr Tumnus, who takes her to his house and gives her tea while he tells her
about the land she has wandered into.
c. Its name is Narnia, and it is always winter (but never Christmas) ever since the White Witch
cast a spell over the land. Indeed, Tumnus confesses to Lucy that he should report Lucy’s
presence in Narnia to the White Witch, but he can’t bring himself to do it. Instead, he helps
her find her way back to the portal so she can return home.
d. The siblings embarked on a journey to defeat the witch and save Narnia.
e. Along the way, they met talking animals, a kind beaver couple, and a valiant lion named
Aslan, who helped them in their quest. Edmund, however, was lured by the witch’s promises
of power and betrayed his siblings by joining forces with her. He later regretted his decision
and redeemed himself by fighting alongside his siblings against the witch’s army.
f. In the final battle, Aslan sacrifices himself to save Edmund from the witch’s wrath. However,
Aslan returned to life, defeating the witch and breaking her curse on Narnia. The siblings
returned to the real world, but they could never forget their adventures in Narnia. They grew
up to become kings and queens of Narnia, ruling over a land that was filled with joy, peace,
and prosperity.
