Why is it important for companies to be aware of local cultures?

- Each country has its own culture so awareness of the local customs and traditions helps the
companies to tailor their products to maximize their revenue and improve their brand relevance.
- In contrast, if the companies don’t pay much attention about the cultural characteristics, it may
lead to failure in the operations.

What are the differences between individualists and collectivists?

- Individualist: Act logically, plan in advance, do 1 thing at a time, respect rules, regulations and
not afraid of confrontation, but can compromise when necessary.
- Collectivist: Focus on feelings, be more flexible, do many things at the same time, believe in
status and prioritize relationships over rules.
 They’re completely different. While individualist try to act logically and just plan to do one thing
at a time, collectivist prioritize feelings, intuition and like doing many things at the same time.
Furthermore, collectivist also be more flexible, respect status and personal relationships…

Who is more likely to think: I’ll let them speak first?

- I think people in reactive culture would be that one. They are the type of person who prefer to
listen to different ideas and establish the other’s position and then react to it. So maybe they will
let others speak first to fully understand the other point of view.

Who is more likely to say, about other people: “They can’t be trusted because they will always help
their friends or family”?

- Universalists is more likely to say that because they respect rules, regulations. They tend to act
logically, which means they will not be confused by the feelings or relationships.

Who is more likely to say: “Oh you can’t trust them; they wouldn’t even help a friend”?

- That would be collectivist since they believe that personal relationships should take precedence
over rules. They prioritize their connections so their way of thinking will probably be affected by
feelings.
