We didn’t invent paper. We’ve been innovating with paper labelling
Just the paper label. materials for more than eight decades. Exhibit A?
The first paper label we created was the first self-
adhesive label ever. Since then, we’ve thought a
lot about paper’s properties, performance, and
potential, and we’re not about to stop now.
Today, we offer the most comprehensive selection of paper materials available. We’re
also constantly pushing the limits of what can be done with paper and adhesive
to solve packaging challenges and make labels work harder. Because innovation is
increasingly synonymous with sustainability, we’re especially focused on creating
paper-based solutions that use fewer raw materials and contribute to a regenerative,
circular economy, through responsible sourcing and the use of recycled content.
We’re proud to offer you paper label constructions for virtually any application (and
if we don’t offer it, chances are good that we can create it). All of our solutions are
backed by our global team of technical experts, who’ll help you get the most from
your material. And all can be purchased through flexible programs that let you order
materials on your terms.
We created this guide to help you understand the various advantages and qualities
of our paper label materials, and to aid you in selecting the right material for your
application. Have a look, and then design your next label with confidence, with the
people who’ve defined paper label materials since 1935.

Why choose There’s a reason companies have used paper
paper labels? labels for eight decades. Sometimes, printability
and performance make them the only solution.
Other times, it’s paper’s sustainability that fits the
bill. Here are some typical reasons why brands and
packaging designers choose paper over film:
More options for embellishments. From hot-foil stamping to embossing and more,
paper can take it all, giving your creativity freedom to roam.
A variety of finishes. Embellishments are just the beginning. Paper also lets you add
finishing options, like varnishes or laminates, for performance or aesthetics.
More textures. Coarse. Velvety. Elegant. Rustic. Paper appeals to the fingertips as well
as the eye, and one thoughtfully chosen texture can tell a whole brand story.
Sustainability. Paper comes from trees, a renewable resource, and can be easily recycled
or composted. A majority of the paper products we offer are made with certified-claim
wood fiber, indicating it was harvested from responsibly managed forests.

Paper materials that Paper is made from wood fiber, a natural, renewable,
advance circularity and recyclable resource. While large amounts of
paper are recycled, most recycled fiber is used
for recycled cardboard rather than paper used for
decorative labels. Although an increasing amount
of face materials and liners are being produced
with recycled content, more paper-recycling
infrastructure and capacity are needed worldwide to
produce more premium paper with recycled content.
Our Sustainable Paper Range makes it easy for brand owners to reduce the
environmental impact of packaging without sacrificing performance. Each paper
in the the range does one or more of the following:
rDT
Direct thermal uncoated BPA-free paper containing recycled
content from post-consumer-recycled (PCR) waste. rDT ECO
FSC, combined with our rBG liner, which includes recycled
content from liner waste, helps you contribute to a circular
economy. rDT ECO FSC offers the same appearance, converting
performance, direct thermal printability and barcode
readability as our standard non recycled direct thermal paper.
It’s perfect for weight scales, fruits and vegetables, shipping
and tracking, retail and more.
