4 Representing simple functions

We Are Learning To:
7As.03 Understand that a function is a relationship
where each input has a single output. Generate outputs
from a given function and identify inputs from a given
output by considering inverse operations (linear and
integers).

What I’m Looking for:

❏ I can work out input and output numbers from
function machines.

9.4 Representing simple functions

A function is a relationship between two

sets of numbers.

Methods:
(1) Function machine
(2) Mapping diagram
(3) Table of values
The numbers that you enter into the function
machine are called the input.

The numbers that you get out of the function

machine are called the output.
