First Quarter

Performance Standard: The learner constantly demonstrates healthful practices to protect
the environment for community wellness.

Participates in implementing an environmental project such as building and
maintaining a school garden or conducting a war on waste campaign (H9CE-Ig-h-14)
I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of 60 minutes, 100% of the learners are expected to:
1. participate in implementing an environmental project

III. LEARNING TASKS:
1. Setting the Mood
Preliminaries (Prayer, Checking of Attendance, etc.)
2. Review
The teacher will post/raise these questions:
-Class, what did we discuss last meeting?
-What have you learned from our discussion?
(The teacher will give chance to the students to answer the posted questions.)
Previous topic: Environmental Issues
(The teacher should make sure that the students have understood well the
previous lesson before tackling/opening a new lesson/topic)
3. Motivation
a.Activity : RECALL!
Directions: The students will be group into five. Students will be asked to recall the
problems of their community. They will have to identify which among those problems
needs the most attention? Select students will then share to the class their answers.
4. Presentation of the Lesson
b. Abstraction
The teacher will explain to the class the significance and relation of activity 1 to the
lesson on Environmental Projects.
Teacher: Last time we discussed about the different environmental issues that
confront us human beings. Today, we will be talking about the possible remedial programs to
address such issues through making action plans towards community development.
Discussion of the main topic: Environmental Projects
The teacher shall discuss the following:
1. Framework for Community Health and Environmental Health
2. Framework for Action Planning
3. Different agencies working together for community health
c. Analysis: PLAN IT OUT! (Cooperative Learning)
Directions: Work in group with five members. You need to write an action plan appropriate
to your problem. (Refer to the frameworks below)
d. Application: Your action plan should follow this format

Directions: You are now ready to conduct/implement an environmental project.
Choose among the following project ideas that cover a number of issues relating to
the natural environment. Present you action plan to the class. This activity needs to be
completed in three weeks. Consult your teacher on how to realize each environmental
project.

Direction: Cut and paste three newspaper or magazine environmental articles in a
bond paper. For each article, write caption that describes the purpose of the article.
Answer the following questions:
1. What are the environmental articles about?
2. Do the stories portray any lessons about conservation or protection of the
environment?
