Chapter 1
Introduction
(Times New Roman 14 bold)
1.1Introduction (Times New Roman 14 bold)
Chapter 1 should clearly state/include the proposal-based elements. Such as, an elaborated
introduction (background to the topic), problem statement, objectives, research questions/hypotheses
etc. including the chapterizations to follow.
(Note: Every chapter of the thesis/dissertation should have proper introduction and proper
conclusion).
CHAPTER 2
Literature Review
(Times New Roman 16 bold)
The aim of a literature review is to show a reader that researcher has read, has a good grasp of, the
main published research work concerning a particular topic in the field. The review should not be
simply a description of what others have published in the form of a set of summaries, but should take
the form of a critical discussion, showing insight and an awareness of differing arguments, theories
and approaches. It should be a synthesis and analysis of the relevant published work, linked at all
times to your own purpose and rationale. A good literature review, therefore, is critical of what has
been written, identifies areas of controversy, raises questions and identifies areas which need further
research.
The literature review should have a detailed description of variables, their dimension and their
relationship. Besides, sources of theoretical frame work must be mentioned below the model.
Rationale of the Study (Optional)
It includes the sum up of the literature review and identifies the problem and gap in previous
literature. How the current study will fill the gap? This section also includes variables and their
dimensions, consider for current study and their sources.
Note: Use either APA or MLA citation style in your thesis/dissertation as per recommendations by
the supervisor.
CHAPTER 3
Research Methodology
(Times New Roman 16 bold)
Research methods is a systematically reviews of the tools and techniques which are used to
undertake a particular research study. In research methodology, it is very significant to use concepts
and theories underlie them and justify with the clear reason for the choice of any particular methods.
It is essential to mention the appropriateness of the particular research method and how research
questions and hypotheses from those methods are addressed. Qualitative and quantitative
methodologies (depending on nature of topic) are normally used as methods. This chapter should
describe the theoretical framework/theoretical framework following the methodology used.
3.1 Research Design (Times New Roman 12 Bold)
3.1.1. Research philosophy (positivism, realism, interpretive etc) Optional for MS
3.1.2. Research approach (deductive or inductive)
3.1.3 Strategy (case study, survey, grounded theory)
3.1.4 Methodological choices (mixed method, mono method or multi -method)
3.1.5 Time horizon (cross sectional or longitudinal)
3.1.6 Techniques and procedures (data collection, data analysis)
3.2 Population of the study (Times New Roman 12 Bold)
3.3 Sample size, sample frame and sampling technique (method for determining the sample size
should be clearly mentioned with relevant source) (Times New Roman 12 Bold)
3.4 Sources of data (primary* & secondary data) (Times New Roman 12 Bold)
3.5 Data collection Tools/methods*(mention the tools/methods for collecting primary data, and provide
justification of selecting any method/tool. Further, also mention the source from where the tool is adopted
or idea taken for developing or constructing your own scales/tools for data collection) (Times New
Roman 12 Bold)
3.6 Data collection procedure (write the details of steps that will be followed for data collection)
(Times New Roman 12 Bold)
3.7 Operational definition of the variables (Times New Roman 12 Bold)
3.8 Data analysis technique (Detail of qualitative and quantitative methods/techniques as per
requirements of the discipline and study should be written.) (Times New Roman 12 Bold)
CHAPTER 4
Results and Discussions
(Times New Roman 14 bold)
You can modify name, numbers of this chapter in accordance with the nature of research work.
Focus here the research objectives and research questions posed for the work.
Discussion/research should be written with arguments and supported by previous studies. Nnn n
CHAPTER 5
Conclusion/Recommendations
(Times New Roman 14 bold)
This chapter analyzes/concludes whether the research questions and objectives of the study were
answered/met. This part should be insightful and penetrating. It should contain the philosophy of
the work done. Besides, recommendations should be there if mentioned in the research
question/objectives and specific to individual, groups, organization etc. Provide the implication
of the study including theoretical, practical and future implications. Further add limitation and
delimitation of the study.
