Nowadays, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is focusing on the “we
race as one” initiative to combat inequality and racism in motorsports. The initiative
attempted to make F1 become a more inclusive and diverse community. The FIA is
currently dealing and encountering with three main problems: the barriers that women
drivers face, including lack of support and being stereotyped as weak and less capable
than men; complaints from fans about the way that FIA approaches its communication
and some disputes about FIA has been seen to choose to place circuits in places that
favor marketing success over successful races; the potential solution to prevent the
number of fatal accidents while racers are competing with each other. Among the issues,
none of them can be ignored. We hope to see more women drivers setting up their own
legacy in the future, reduce severe injuries and fatalities, and give more positive and
satisfying feedback to fans, keep their enthusiasm.
To build a better, more inclusive motorsport community, the FIA must address issues
of gender equality, fan engagement, and safety. Above all, safety should be prioritized,
with funding directed towards essential protective gear like the "Halo" and "Hans"
systems, helmets, gloves, boots, and race suits. These measures enhance not only
physical safety but also the integrity and sustainability of F1. With proactive safety
steps, fans, teams, and drivers can fully embrace the excitement of the sport, knowing
that driver well-being is protected, fostering a competitive yet secure environment.
In conclusion, the FIA should ensure adequate funding for the F1 Academy to
encourage women in motorsport and inspire young girls worldwide. Implementing an
online questionnaire to gather fan and racer input on race circuits before each grand
prix will enhance engagement, keeping regular interaction with fans is another essential
affair we must focus on. Additionally, investing in safety systems like the "Halo" can
significantly reduce injuries and fatalities, transforming F1 into a sport that prioritizes
driver safety. By addressing these areas, the FIA can create a more inclusive, fan-
focused, and secure motorsport community, paving the way for a new era that honors
competition and inspires future generations. Let’s race toward this promising future
together!
