Trip to the Dam

Sam and Dan.

Ride in the van
On a trip to the dam.
On their way.
They saw a ram.
The ram ran to the dam.
They followed the ram.
They ram got first in the dam.

The Big Fat Cat

I saw a big fat cat.

Did you see a big fat cat?
Too fat to catch a rat.
“Meow, meow, meow.”

All she did was sit on a mat.

Did she catch a rat?
She never caught a rat.
“Meow, meow, meow.”

Did you ever hear of a thing like that?

Of a cat so fat to catch a rat?
“Meow, meow, meow.”

Ang Lobo
May isang batang bumili ng lobo. Tatlong lobong kulay pula, dilaw at berde ang pinila niya. Ngunit di
nagtagal. Pumutok ang mga lobo. Umiyak ang bata. Naisip niya, saying ang pera. Pagkain na lang sana
ang binili niya.

The Bees

The bee has a big family. There are many bees in the family. We cannot count them. The bee family is
called a swarm. The swarm lives in the hive. The hive hangs on a tree. Each swarm has a mother bee. She
is called the queen bee. She is the mother of all the bees in the swarm. There are two kinds of bees. The
busy bees are called workers. The lazy bees are called drones. The workers do not like the drones. They
sting the lazy drones. The workers gather nectar from the flowers. They put the nectar in the hive. The bees
make the nectar into honey. Honey is sweet. It is the food of the young bees.

Itim

Cosme has a big dog. It has soft, black hair. Cosme calls it Itim. Itim has very strong legs. It can run very
fast. Itim always sleeps near the door. It sleeps there to watch the house.

One night, a man came. There was no moon. There was no light. It was very dark. But Itim knew there was
a man coming. It barked and barked. The man ran away.

Itim does not have to see. By smelling, it knows someone is coming. Dogs can smell very well.

A Moonlight Night

The moon was a big and bright. The children played in the moonlight. They played hide and seek. Mario hid
behind the acacia tree. Andres hid behind some bushes. Isabel hid behind a pile of hollow blocks. Rita hin
behind some banana plants. Edmund looked around but saw no one. Just then, someone moved behind
the bushes. Edmund ran to see who it was and found Andres. “One, two, three! He said. “Now you are it,
Andres.” The children played and played. How happy they were!

The Frog

Ruben and Paul were playing near a pond. They saw a big brown frog. It was sitting on a stone near a
pond. It had two big eyes and a big wide mouth.

“Let’s catch that frog. I want to show it to my little brother,” said Ruben.
So Paul threw a stone at the frog. It jumped quickly into the water. It jumped with its two strong legs.

The Train
By the hills and mountains
Over the fields and plains
Crossing strong, steel bridges
Rolls the long, heavy rain
It carries people and cargo
It carries our mail, too.
It goes in broad daylight.
Or in the dark of night.
