Jenis-jenis Coordinating Conjunction
Coordinating atau coordinate conjunction terdiri atas beberapa jenis, di antaranya yaitu:
1. Cumulative (kumulatif), yakni coordinating conjunction yang menunjukkan penambahan
Contoh kata: and, both, also, as well as, no, less, than not only … but, not only but also. Pada “as well as”, kata
bantu dan kata kerja mengikuti kata subjek (kata ganti) yang pertama.
Contoh Kalimat Conjunction jenis cumulative:
I do not invite her and she does not come here. (Saya tidak mengundang dia dan dia tidak datang ke sini)
Both I and my bestfriend must come there. (Baik saya maupun sahabat saya harus datang ke sana)
2. Alternative (alternatif), yaitu menunjukkan pilihan (di antara)
Contoh kata: or, either, neither, nor, else, otherwise.
Contoh kalimat:
Me or you must meet him today. (Aku atau kamu harus menemui dia hari ini)
3. Adversative, yaitu menunjukkan perlawanan (kontras)
Contoh kata: but, still, yet, nevertheless, however, while, whereas, only.
Contoh Kalimat Conjunction dalam Bahasa Inggris jenis adversative:
He is smart, but lazy. (Dia pintar, tetapi malas)
4. Illatitive yang berarti menunjukkan kesimpulan
Contoh kata: so, for, then, therefore.
Contoh kalimat:
I am sick, so I do not go to school. (Saya sakit, maka saya tidak pergi ke sekolah)
