Day 1: Prayer - Raise me up!
[Doug]
Key text: Psalm 41:10
“But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them.”
Living in a city can be challenging. The fast-paced life is not for the faint-heart! Getting
lost in the middle of the busyness and the noise is very easy. But God has planted you in
your city for a purpose. You have a mission—God’s mission. Pray that God may help you
discover your purpose and fulfill it.
Today´s key verse is a cry to the Lord:
People in cities tend to suffer more from depression.
City evangelism is not something we can do by ourselves. We need God.
Whatever the reason we are down, God’s power is the only thing that will raise us
up, but we have to ask for it. We must cry out to the Lord for Him to give us power.
He shall raise us up from the deep muddy clays.
Ellen White says, “Unceasing PRAYER is the unbroken union of the soul with
God, so that life from God flows into our life; and from our life, purity and holiness
flow back to God.” Steps to Christ, p. 98.
Challenge:
1. Are you feeling down today? Spend time with God and claim His promises.
2. Cry out for the Lord to raise you up and be filled with His Holy Spirit to continue
your mission.
3. Reach out to your leaders and mentors for spiritual guidance.
4. Talk to them about your feelings and your intentions for the mission.
Day 2: Priority - Mission first [WAD]
Key text: Colossians 3:2
“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
As discussed yesterday, it can be very easy for someone to lose focus while living in a city.
Some cities are famous because they never sleep. That means there’s always something
happening, something to be done, someone to meet. To fulfill our God-given mission, we
must set our minds to it and write “mission” at the top of our to-do lists.
Sister White comments, “The obligation which binds us to place our names on the church
roll holds us responsible to work to the utmost of our ability for God. He calls for
undivided service, for the entire devotion of heart, soul, mind, and strength. Christ has
brought us into church capacity, that He may engage and engross all our capabilities in
devoted service for the salvation of others. Anything short of this is opposition to the
work.” Ellen White, An Appeal for Missions, p.4.2
God is calling us to work for Him and He has planned on enhancing our capacities
for mission. It is our responsibility, our obligation, to answer the call by doing His
work with all we have, ALL. Refusing to use the fullness of our abilities for mission
brings us to the wrong side of the battlefield.
We are not from this world. When we embrace our identity in Christ, worldly things
will not attract us anymore.
Setting my mind on things above is not a “once and forever” kind of task. We have
to cross it off our lists every single day.
Our victory is guaranteed in Christ’s strength, not ours.
Challenge: List things that might be distracting you from your mission. Pray about them
and start replacing them intentionally with mission-focused activities. Example: I’m getting
distracted from the mission by TikTok, so I’ll begin producing TikTok videos with Christian
messages.
Day 3: Plan – Prepare, Prepare, Prepare!! [IAD]
Key text: Luke 14:28
“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the
cost, whether he has enough to finish it.”
Have you ever gone over budget on a project? I have personally felt bad about
miscalculating. But how embarrassing is it to admit that we didn’t do or finish something
because we ran out of resources? That’s why people started budgeting in the first place, to
ensure they manage the project efficiently. If budgeting and counting the cost is vital for
project management, what more of the Mission that God has placed before us? Indeed, you
can plan and prepare to prove yourself worthy of the calling.
To plan for the mission, it is crucial to consider the following:
Preparation: it is not enough to have an idea; you must measure the size of the task
you are about to embark on. Preparation involves fasting and prayer.
Till the land: once you are ready, start working on the land, put your hands on the
plough, and faithfully till the land. Plant the seed and let the Holy Spirit water it.
Budget: use material resources wisely. Choose to be a good steward of God’s
property. Write how much you need to start and finish the project.
Count the cost: Take into account all other resources that are not material, such as
time, people, etc., and make sure you have enough of them, too!
What about YOUR projects, your dreams? When you answer God’s call saying, “I
will go for you, Lord” and start preparing for mission, you hire the best planner for
your personal projects! God Himself will see that you get into your dream career,
that you find your dream spouse, and that you get so much more than you could’ve
ever imagined while, at the same time, reaching other with the light of the Good
News! In mission, God’s projects also become YOUR projects, and God NEVER
leaves any project unfinished!
Challenge: Stop thinking about it! Yes! It is time to bring life to that mission project idea of
yours! Meet with your parent, mentor, elder, pastor, or any other leader you trust. Let them
know about your project idea and ask for their help in preparing to impact others in your
community.
Day 4: Passion – Loving God, Loving each other [Pako]
Key text: 1 Thessalonians 2:8
“So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only
the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.”
The thought that we are better off doing and enjoying things on our own has overtaken the
current generation of young people. Aren’t you constantly bombarded with how “greater” it
is to live life alone and on your terms without getting in touch with others because they’ll
“ruin it” or “kill the vibe?” That’s not how God designed the fulfillment of our purpose.
God created us as social beings. We NEED human contact.
When you understand God’s mission, you will be passionate about people.
“Wherever Christ saw a human being, He saw one who needed human
sympathy.” Ellen White, Pastoral Ministry, p.37.
By relating with others, you can be a reflection of Jesus in the world. Light
is not to be kept under a table. It must be shown to the world, including
people living in the cities.
A passion for people and the mission will lead you to serve all your life. In
this way, your interests don’t become a second priority because your
interests are mission interests.
Challenge: Look around and find three people you can start conversing with. Text them,
follow them on social media, visit with them. The possibilities are endless! Try to find ways
to help them with something they are concerned about or struggling with.
Day 5: Proclaim - The Hour of His Judgment has Come [TED]
Key text: Revelation 14:6-7
“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to
preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—saying
with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has
come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
In this century, there is no such thing as a secret. The advent of social media has made
people to be comfortable sharing all kinds of information. Unlike many other places, cities
are ruled by the information on the streets, and dynamics always circle around the latest
news. But what does that have to do with the mission?
We are called laborers together with God. So, arise and shine. There is no time
to spend in controversy. Those who know the truth must now become one in
heart and purpose. Differences cannot be eliminated, but how we deal with
issues matters. As a church member, please work unitedly with others in this
proclamation.
Proclamation is not merely saying something; it implies a loud voice and a
respectful attitude.
We have an urgent message that is not to be taken lightly. We must use every
available resource available to share our hope in Jesus with others and let them
know that the time we live in is short.
Proclaim the urgent message of warning and stay on course! Do not give up.
The Lord has promised to be with you. Claim this promise.
Challenge:
1. Use your social media accounts for the remaining days of this week to share the
present truth to everyone you know.
2. Get creative and see how many other ways you can find to let people know Jesus is
coming soon.
3. Tag your Conference and Union Youth Directors.
Day 6: Partner - Better together [Andres]
Key text: Luke 10:1
“After these things, the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by
two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.”
We all have been there at some point: we have a difficult task ahead, and we first try to get
it done on our own. I’m not saying it is impossible to get big things done without help, but I
think we all can agree that doing it with someone else is, at least, less lonely, and
sometimes even funnier. Jesus knew two things very well: 1. He wanted the message to
reach everyone around the globe, and 2. We would try to do it independently because we
are stubborn like that!
Why doing a mission with someone close to you is beneficial:
You get to know each other better and build deeper relationships as you commit to
praying for each other and other people. Service unites people.
Things get done faster. Four hands work faster than 2.
Things get done better. Whatever I cannot see, my partner may see it. Maybe I can’t
see the specific needs of someone or a community, but my partner in mission might,
and we can find ways to help.
We can reach out to more people.
We have support in our weakness and accountability for the mission.
“A great work is to be done, and this work has been entrusted to those who know the truth.
They should make mighty intercession with God for help now.” Ellen White, Testimonies,
v.5, p. 454. God knew He was not calling us to an easy work, that’s the reason why we are
not expected to do it on our own. Start asking Him for help now!
Challenge: Evaluate your circle and find people who are potential mission partners. Take
time to pray for one another. Reach out to the person or persons God is leading you to
partner with in mission on your campus, in your community, and in your city.
Day 7: Praise - To Him, for Him, through Him [Busi]
Key text: Jude 24-25
“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless
before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone
is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.”
Success!! Everyone, everywhere, is chasing success. You moved out of your home and
pursued your dreams in hopes of success. People get into meaningful relationships, hoping
to get into marriage and to build happy partnerships and homes. Therefore, Missionaries get
into the cities hoping for successful missions. Following the previous 6 P’s, the 7th will be a
natural consequence. The last P is Praise.
Every good thing comes from God, and we have Him to thank for each of them.
The tangible evidence of God’s work is evident when we let Him use us, but at
other times, it may not be seen immediately. Therefore, Praise God for the
visible and invisible successes.
Success in mission is understanding that this is the Lord’s work and we are to go
where He leads and do what He commands. Success is obeying Christ and
leaving the results to Him.
We do what we do for Jesus because we love Him. We work through Jesus
because is the leader and He enables us. We work for Jesus because He already
did the work, and since we are created in His image, we also DO the work He
has called us to do. We serve Him because He is WHO we trust. And we work
with Jesus because we trust in His redemptive work on the cross, and He is the
Giver of all good gifts and the Reason for everything we do.
Challenge: Write down everything you learned and any testimonies you may have about
your experience this week. Take private time to praise God for all you have written. Then,
praise God with your fellow students and your local community for the success you have
had or will have in your mission.
Promo script [Yuli]:
In a world filled with hustle and bustle, where people are constantly on the move, there's a
call to bring hope and transformation right to the heart of the city. During this year’s eWeek
of Prayer, scheduled for November 09-15, we will introduce the 7Ps of City Evangelism —
a revolutionary approach to sharing the Gospel in urban áreas. The 7Ps encompass every
aspect of effective city evangelism, guiding young people to engage with their communities
in meaningful and impactful ways. During the eWeek of Prayer we will also have time to
pray and fast. Ellen White says in the book, Steps to Christ, p. 98, “Unceasing PRAYER is
the unbroken union of the soul with God, so that life from God flows into our life; and from
our life, purity and holiness flow back to God.” Prayer is important because it provides a
direct line of communication with God, allowing us to express our gratitude, seek guidance,
find comfort, and experience His presence in our lives. Join us as we embrace the 7Ps of
City Evangelism and embark on a journey to bring hope, healing, and salvation to every
corner of the city. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can transform lives.
Together, we can impact for eternity.
