1. Prior Delivery
a. Confirm types and name, quantity and containers of
chemical to be delivered on site?
b. Is calcium gluconate (cream or jel type) being purchased for
the delivery of HF, hydrofluoric acid?
c. Confirm the hazards type or group of chemical to be
delivered and the specific requirement?
d. Check with supplier or delivery company the transferring
method to be used on site?
e. Ensure access is prepared, clear with no materials and
vehicles obstruction and levelled for delivery?
f. Ensure proper chemical signage is displayed at the
appropriate location?
g. Ensure water supply with hose is nearby at the point of
delivery and transferring, for spillage and cleanup purposes?
h. Obtain a copy of SDS prior delivery and conduct a risk-
impact assessment?
d. Is the delivery truck equipped with fire extinguishers, first aid
box, spill clean up kit, proper PPE for chemical handling?
e. Are the delivery crews trained to render first aid, fight fire
and use of clean up kit and PPE?
f. Are all the above mentioned equipment and PPE in good
working condition?
g. Are the delivery crews told about the potential hazards of
chemical they are handling?
2. On Site Delivery / Receiving of Chemicals
a. Is the point of transferring being guarded and kept out of
unauthorised personnel and work?
b. Are proper signs erected to caution and warn workers and
contractors of other trades to keep out?
c. Are other incompatible works asked to cease during the
transferring of chemicals like hot work, grinding etc?

d. Condition of containers, drums or carboys without dents,
bulge or leaks?
e. Containers are correctly labelled with chemicals name and
hazards?
f. Check chemical comes with a copy of SDS, Safety Data
Sheet?

appropriate PPE?
h. Check that first aid box, spill clean up kits, fire extinguishers
are fully equipped and serviceable?
3. Storage of Chemicals
a. The storage space is sufficient for the quantity of chemical
delivered on site?
b. Sufficient passageway and access are provided to store and
retrieve chemicals for use?
c. Storage racks are of adequate strength with labels of SWL
and chemical types?
d. Labels on containers face outward for ease of identification
and retrieval?
e. Incompatible chemicals are isolated and stored separately
(eg. Acid from alkaline, solvent from acid)?
f. Adequate ventilation and fire fighting equipment are provided
and readily available?
4. Handling and Use of Chemicals
a. Workers know the name of chemical, its hazards and
precautionary measure when handling chemicals?
b. Workers have undergone hazards communication by their
supervisor?
c. Workers have access to a copy of SDS at area of work at all
times?
d. Workers are wearing the appropriate PPE for the handling of
chemicals?
e. Workers are told of clean up procedure and the use of spill
clean up kits?
f. Workers know where to dispose or discard chemicals waste
according to adopted procedures?
g. Workers are aware of the emergency showers, eyewash
station location in case of chemical contact?
h. Workers observe personal hygiene after handling of
chemicals?
