Place
People in Tokyo Speak Japanese, their stores have signs written in either
the written languages of Japan. People in Tokyo wear traditional
Japanese fashions such as the kimono, hakama, obi, yukata, happi, and
many more. The Japanese culture is reflected by the traditional arts:
ikebana, origami, and ukiyo-e, crafts, dolls, lacquer ware, and pottery,
performances, kabuki, noh, bunraku, kyogen, and kamishibai, onsen, and
tea ceremonies. Since Tokyo is now considered a Metropolitan city, it
has major cities such as Hachioji, Machida, and Fuchu. Tokyo’s climate
is humid subtropical which means it has warm and wet summers and
mild winters. The most traditional plants of Tokyo are the Azalea,
Bamboo, Camellia, Cherry, and Hosta.
Human/Environment Interaction
Tokyo is just like all cities. The Japanese like to interact with their
environment by building parks. There are over 6000 parks covering over
1000 hectares of land in Tokyo. They love cherry blossom viewing and
they love to have picnics on the land. Tokyo is intersected by the Sumida
River, which the effects on that is that Tokyo has an extensive network
of Canals. There is a large man-made port at the mouth of the Sumida.
The development of which has enabled Tokyo to compete with their
rival, Yokohama. Mount Fuji is west of Tokyo and it is one of the
highest points of Japan. The city is slow to stop the environmental issues
because they have a lot on their mind. Tokyo is using a lot of their land
space on buildings because of their strong economic centers. There is
hardly any farming in Tokyo, except for the occasional farming of a
balcony or in the public gardens. There is not a lot of interaction, just
building. Building is negative for the environment, so the Japanese
interact with their environment in a negative way. To balance that act,
Japan and Tokyo are part of the Kyoto Protocol which is made to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions. On top of that, Japan uses a lot of renewable
energy, and tries to limit their use of fossil fuels, because fossil fuels
produce greenhouse gases when burned. Greenhouse gasses hurt the
environment. Tokyo has a good point to pollution though, there is a lot
of mass transit because there is a lot of traffic on the small roads. Mass
transit is better for the environment.
Movement
dIn Tokyo, the transportation is the same as always for the United States
and any other country of the first world. Just about a majority of
manufactured goods are shipped from Tokyo and its ports. Japan exports
motor vehicles/parts for vehicles, products made of iron and steel, and
materials of plastic. The country imports petroleum, natural liquid gas,
and clothing. Nagoya is the most large and busy port for the exporting
and importing of goods. The oldest is Yokohama, located on the
northwestern edge of Tokyo. The movement supports Tokyo and its
gaining of more money because almost all materials made are raw.
Regions
Tokyo is a metropolitan city located in the Kantō Region of Japan. This
Kantō Region is home to about 42.4 million citizens and large amounts
of people coming from the suburbs commute to Tokyo because of the
education given and employment of careers. This region is more than
just being a commercial territory; it has its territories for agriculture and
industrial purposes as well. The region is just like how it is in the United
States, but the only differences being the way their culture is and what
they believe in.
