2. Sand Dunes
3. Loess
4. Sand Bar

Q2.Draw a neat and labelled diagram of the following:

Q3. Read the given below paragraph and answer the following questions:
When the river leaves the mountains and enters the plains, the flow is no longer swift. The river
twists and turns to form large bends or loops. These are called meanders. Now the river erodes,
transports and deposits the sediments. Due to continuous erosion and deposition, the
meandering loop becomes almost circular and come very close to each other. In due course of
time the river is able to cut the strip of land between the two loops and takes a straight course.
The cut off circular loop forms an ox-bow lake.
a. Where and why do the meanders form?
b. How are ox- bow lakes formed? Explain with the help of a diagram.
Q3. Explain the formation of a delta with the help of a diagram.
Q4. Why is the work of the wind limited to a few meters above the ground?
Q6. Why is wind the most important agent of erosion in the desert?
Q7. What are sand Dunes? How are they formed? State its features.
Q8. Through a mind map explain the measures to be taken to conserve the rivers.
Research work on world’s largest river island
With a total area of 352 square kilometers (136 square miles), “Majuli” is the world's largest
river island, and it attracts tourists from all over the world. It is an island in the Brahmaputra
River, Assam and in 2016 it became the first island to be made a district in India.
Frequent earthquakes in the period 1661–1696 set the stage for a catastrophic flood in 1750 that
continued for 15 days, which is mentioned in historical texts and reflected in folklore. As a
result of this flood, part of the Brahmaputra discharged southward into what was the
Burhidihing's lower channel and Mājuli island was formed.
Q4. Suggest some innovative methods for soil conservation .
