HANLDING AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS OF EVEREST FIBER CEMENT ROOFING SHEETS
1. Sheets will be received in lorry with proper packing at bottom & sides.
2. Each sheet should be handled by 4 persons & sheets should be lifted from the first corrugation (Crown of
corrugation) and should not be handled from corners.
3. Sheets should be stacked on FIRM LEVEL GROUND and if they are to be stored for any duration of time it is
recommended that either cover is provided or stack should be stored under covered shed.
4. Keep sheets of different lengths in separate stacks, damaged material should not be stacked along with sound
stack.
5. Each stack shall have polythene lined gunny bags filled
with saw dust/rice husk/coconut husk, placed
equidistant under it. The length of this tightly filled
pillow shall not be more than 1050 mm & minimum
4 kgs in weight. The pillow SHOULD NOT PROJECT OUT
OF THE STACK, especially at down lap corrugation.
The number of pillows required shall be – 3.6 M Sheets – 7 Bags,

3M Sheets – 6 bags, 2.75 /2.5 M Sheets - 5 Bags, 2 M Sheets - 4 Bags,
1.75/1.5 M SHEET - 3 BAGS.
6. The height of stack should be limited to 120 sheets – Diagram - 1.
7. Sheets should be stacked from North to South direction to avoid lengthwise exposure to the Sun.
8. When the material is stacked on project site, to prevent accidental damages due to movement of truck &
other vehicles, it is necessary to locate stacks away from roadways.
9. While Loading or Unloading, Super color sheets shouldn’t be dragged or slide over one another.
10. Don’t store or put any other goods (Hardware, Iron bars, Cement bags etc.) on the Super Color sheets.
11. Reverse the Top sheet of the stack during storage to protect the sheets from starches and dust accumulation.

FIXING INSTRUCTIONS OF EVEREST FIBER CEMENT ROOFING SHEETS
1. Always use a cat ladder / roof board and safety equipment's
while working on the roof.
2. Always lay sheets with smooth surface on top facing weather.
3. Maximum permissible purlin spacing = 1.4 M. Minimum end
lap = 150 mm. Diagram 2.
4. After laying each sheet tighten nuts lightly at first to hold the sheets in
place. When a dozen or more sheets have thus been laid, tighten all
the nuts. Do not over tighten the nuts.
5. The Slope of roofs shall be preferably not less than 18º.
6. For corrugated sheets use two bolts on either side of lap. Accessories
like bolts, nuts & washers should be galvanized. Size of the bolt 8 mm dia.
For 10 mm dia bolt hole.
HOLE MUST BE DRILLED, NOT PUNCHED, use good quality Bitumen
washer over G.I. flat washers for each bolt.
Do not use cup washers. Diagram 3.
7. Mitering should always be carried out wherever four corners of four sheets
meet at one point with the help of a hand saw only. Top sheets are from
left right procedure should be reversed when laying sheets from
right to left. Diagram 4.
8. In case of whitewashing, please observe the following:
• Ideally cement based paints like snowcem should be used.
• We recommend whitewashing after first monsoon, if it to be carried out
immediately. Please see that sheets are thoroughly sprinkled with
water before whitewashing.
• If ordinary lime is chosen please see that it is slaked for at least
24 hours before use.
• If sheets are to whitewashed before fixing, see that sheets are stacked
immediately after whitewashing & not spread out individually for
drying since this would cause warping of sheets.
