GLITCH

Logline: Stuck in a classroom locked and controlled by an entity, a group of students engage in
games of life and death where only the fittest survive.

PLOT LINE

A classroom of 5, all of them are copying a document from the screen to their notebooks. The five
people in the room are aged above 20 and below 28, 3 men and two women of the three men,
David, the oldest of the lot a 26 year old well built guy dressed in a formal shirt and jean with glasses,
neatly combed hair and trimmed beard, he sits in the front row focused on the document in the
screen and keeps copying it down. Near him to the left, in a seat is Kevin, a teenager nerd in his early
twenties, fat and of below average height, he seems like a burger away from getting a heart attack.
He sits down carelessly playing video games and chewing gum, in a t shirt, cap and jean with his
obliques slightly popping out of his shorts, The chair he sits on is in the verge of breaking down.
Behind him is the very ordinary George, 23 year old who is half fed up with the whole process,
moderately built, in a casual shirt and pants he looks to his side, where the girls sit, maybe George
likes one of them. On that side is Cindy who does not seem to care about anything at all. She has
worn a revealing top that ends right before her navel which has a navel ring, she has a lot of make up
on her, stockings and jean shorts on top of it looks like a goth girl. Kevin slightly turns his gaze to
cindy she sees him staring at her bust, mocks him with an unbelievable laugh and says “fuck off”
motioned with her mouth. Near her is Nora, beautiful eyes and dark hair, a white top, black jean, she
has a wheatish complexion and brownish eyes.

Context & Premise: while the students try to write down the notes. The computer slowly
glitches, as it keeps glitching, George stands up tries to correct the computer and checks whats
wrong, he kicks the cpu in the process, suddenly the whole screen goes blank including the
document. A gigantic cursor appears on the screen. Suddenly it starts to print backwards from
3…2…1 the lights go off and everybody feels the air around them change as if they are in a different
room. They scream and yell and yell finally the lights come in. All of a sudden something pops in the
screen. The cursor types WELCOME.

Scene 1
Introducing the game to the audience and the characters, they are under the computers
captivity and only one of them can escape from here and they have to finish games before
moving forward and each round eliminates a player till only two are left in the last, and in
each round the player eliminated has to be killed by the others. Calling all of it a load of bull
they try to break the equipment and the computer warns them that it would sabotage the
room and kill the people who do so, by poisoning the room with the AC

Scene 2
 They play a game of musical chairs in which Kevin loses the first round and is killed by David
by being strangled to death with a cable chord. Game of freeze and play to music, in this
scene the computer develops a voice the play freeze and play, David makes cindy trip and fall
to which he himself chokes and kills her.

Scene 3
Before the game starts David turns to George and gets on top of him pins him down and tries
to choke him with his bare hands, Nora finds a nail cutter from Cindy’s bag and sticks the
sharp end into David’s eye.

Climax
For the final game the computer turns off all lights in the room and asks nora and George to
kill each other before the lights come back. Nora confesses her love to George in the dark,
suddenly the lights come back, Nora runs to hug him, they embrace and she kisses him and
under this pretext she tries to stab him with the same nail cutter. George catches her hand a
devilish grin on his face, he punches her gut, grabs her by the hair and twists her neck and
breaks it like a twig, nora gasps for air her windpipe broken and she falls dead, there is a
deadly silence in the room, The door slowly opens, George passes through it to reach into a
tunnel and at the end of it is a light, as he walks towards it, it appears to be another door, he
opens it only to find himself in another room like this.

David (primarily shown heroic, but with every game he gets maniacal)

Int/classroom
(on the corner of the classroom are the bodies of kevin,cindy,and
David, it seems as if chaos had ensued in the classroom and there is
no humanity left, chairs thrown around, blood stains on the carpets
and amidst this chaos are the two finalists, Nora and George they
look at each other tensed and afraid, both of them scared at what
fate has made them do)
NORA

GEORGE

The computer screen turns white and on the display, appears a
distorted face like image, it starts speaking

ENTITY
Welcome to the final round of this
experiment, till now this experiment has
progressed and moved according to what I
calculated. surprising enough, I find it
unbelievable and odd that the beings that
created an entity like me are petty and weak,
to an extend it makes me question the
applicability of my findings. Yet as a
generous host and referee, I refrain from
changing the rules of the game eventhough this
game bores me..
NORA
Why cant you let us go, we’ve seen enough
blood and there is blood on both our hands, what
more is there to prove
ENTITY
The human mind is so predictable, even
when you know that your pleas wouldn’t make a
difference, you expect an artificial automated
entity like me to understand and set you free,
rather than fight for your own survival.
Believe me… the most apt way of natural
selection in future would be to eliminate the
human race before it destroys the planet
George
(gasps and seems tensed)
Entity
Well, its time for the ultimate test, my
calculations show that there might be an interesting
outcome to this final game considering the samples
nora and George are romantically involved.

George and Nora

(both of them look at each other in a plea and yet in a confused
expression)
Entity
Well, Let the games begin,
( saying this the lights in the room go out, from the ac to the
speakers everything goes silent, the only thing obstructing the
silence in the room is the breathing of the two individuals.
Suddenly, the shrill voice of the entity breaks the cold silence)
Entity
In this round, its pretty simple, I expect
only one of you to come out alive and I hope
the fittest survives
(the air and the silence in the room thickens, both nora and george
stop breathing which adds to the thick silence... ... ... ... ...the
silence is broken by a soft shrill sob of Nora,to which George
responds)
George (still in the dark)
Im sick an tired of pretending not to be human anymore, there
is no going forward or backward from here, there is no hope
left, rather than falling into the hands of this sick fuck
machine, I say we go out on our terms
Nora (still in the dark, controlling her sobs)
Well, if that’s it then, be it... George, im really sorry
I didn’t confess earlier, I never knew, I wish I had
known that you love me as much as I do...
... ... ... ... ...
(suddenly the lights come back in and then there is silence in the
room)
(Nora and George they stare at each other blankly and
then they run to each other and embrace, they kiss, their
foreheads meet and they close their eyes as if waiting
for death to pounce on them)
Nora
...
George
...
(Nora slowly pulls out the sharp nail cutter from her jean pocket,
she holds it tight whilst hugging George aims it for the back of his
ear she aims it and swings hard...)
NORA
 FORGIVE ME!!!!
(George catches her hand mid-air, tightens his grip around her
wrist. Nora is in shock, George has a devilish grin in his face)
GEORGE (tightening his grip)
SORRY, MY LIFE IS WAAY TOO PRECIOUS!!!
(he twists her hand grabs her by the hair, punches in her gut,
twists her neck and breaks it... she falls down choking as her
windpipe is broken...George walks to her
GEORGE
Tsk tsk tsk...
(Puts his feet on her throat)
GEORGE
WHY WONT YOU DIE!!! BITCH...
(Nora’s body stops moving...)
George
(George stretches his arms and legs, he turns to the door which
slowly gets unlocked... he walks with an evil air to the door as he
opens it...)
