2. Dates for 2025
25 July 2025 League starts in each municipality
8 August 2025 Region play – offs
23 August 2025 Mpumalanga (Lydenburg)
3. Teams to participate
U/9 6 players (boys or mix team)
U/11 6 players (boys or mix team)
U/13 6 players (boys or mix team)
Girls U/13 6 players (Only girls)
B-team 10 players (boys or mix team)
All players must be U/13 and younger. No U/14 players are allowed to participate in the school
team league.
4. Rules for the league
• Fide rules.
• 30/30 minutes.
• Only one team per age group per school is allowed to participate.
• Two illegal moves will be applied.
• Certification: A complete team list of names and dates of birth must be submitted on
registration. This must be done on a school letterhead and be signed by the principal.
• Each municipality and region must organise their own trials.
• The winner and runner-up of each league must participate on the next level.
• The B-team will also participate in the Mpumalanga trials.
• Board one consists of the best player of the team. Players must stay in the same board
order for the day and for the league. The players cannot rotate on their board
positions.
• A player that has played for a particular team for the season may not play in another
team. The same 6 players must play in all the league games as well as the
Region/Provincial Championships. Players must stay in the same team and cannot
change if the teams are knocked out. Reserves must be from the B-team and NOT A
teams.
• If an A-team player cannot play in the trials, he must be replaced with a B-team player.
If a B-team player cannot play in the trials, he must be replaced with a player that is
not in a team yet.
• How to handle Ties
Criterium 1: The team with the most game points win the game. (Game points is the
number of games win out of 6 players in the A-teams and 10 players in the B-team.
Criterium 2: The team that win the most matches. (The competition is won if the team
have more than 50% of the total amount of points. The team match points are 1 or ½
or 0.
Criterium 3: Direct match against each other (equal divide system). If 2 teams are still
equal, they are being watched as they play against each other.
Criterium 4: (It is unlikely but still possible.)
In the event where 2 teams are still tied, the following system will be applied. The points
from the bottom boards are not taken into account.
