What Makes Someone a Hero

When asked about a hero, most people will have many vivid images in their minds, from a president who issued emancipation proclamation and changed the history of that country to a little boy who urinated on the burning fuse and thus saved the whole city, from a major general who led the Normandy battle and speeded up the corruption of the Fascist empire to all the people on the UA93 who fought to death against the terrorists and prevent the attack targeted to the White House in Washington. Yes, they are all heros, either from leaders in a country or just from civilians among us. There's little doubt that it is not their status in a society makes them so special and be remembered by people all over the world eternally. What are the root factors that can make a person so outstanding among us and to be accepted as a hero by all the people? What is a hero without love for mankind.1 Love for mankind actually is an inherent character in those heros, and it is also the primary impetus to stimulus either courage or witty on them in some critical time. Little as Manneken Pis is, he could still found out a quickest way to save the lives of his city. His strong concerns and love for his people made him create such a marvelous legend that urine can destroy an explosion target to a city. Hitler, on the contrary, powerful as he is, due to lack of the basic humanity, he turned to be a notorious public enemy, and finally was defeated by world wide anti-Fascist soldiers. Thus it can be seem that, whether having or not having love for mankind can lead a person to have quite opposite life orbits and either grow up to a hero or fall to a sinner, even thought such two kinds of people share a lot of features and characters. A hero is no braver than an ordinary man but he is braver five minutes longer.2 Heros are neither from the heaven or fairy tales. They come from ordinary people. The differences between a hero and a common person might be just that in a pivotal time, a hero stands out while a common person withdraws. Before Sep. 11th, 2001, all the people on UA93 were just as ordinary as all of us. However, when they started to struggle with terrorists boldly and finally destroyed their conspiracy to attack the White house, they became heros. They sacrificed their own lives only to avoid the disaster which would take away more peoples lives. Three was a common soldier in China, while the chairman of that time, issued a national call to learn from him. This soldiers name is Feng Lei and the chairman is Chairman Mao. The

only difference between Feng Lei and other people is that he kept helping others, every day, until the last minute of his life. Chairman once said, it was not difficult to help others once or occasionally, while it was quite challenging that one kept helping others in his minds and fulfilled such behaviors all life time long. It is widely accepted in China, soldier Lei is a hero in that time. Some people think heros comes out of chaos. Disorders, like wars, plagues or disasters could have heros standing out, but they are not the reason that makes a heros. The story about soldier Lei is also such a good example. He lived in a peaceful time. He just did some ordinary works in an extraordinary way. Bill Gates, who is neither a general nor a president, has never met a circumstance either to confront with fires and bombes or take the risk to be murdered. He is just one of successful business men. While when the time he started to devote most of his wealth to philanthropic organizations, he changed to be more than an excellent business person. He also advocated having the rich charged more tax. Herso are all unselfish, they can give up things normal people hesitate to loose. In disorders, such things can be ones life. While in peaceful times, wealth is the last thing most people will let it go. Herso are all noble, the reason they can have a lot of unselfish devours is that they have strong believes to support them. From this point of view, people like Gates and soldier Lei, are also a kind of hero. Unselfishness is also a primary factor that can create a hero. All after reviewing above real stories about heros, its not hard find that strong humanity, extraordinary braveness and nobleness constitute kinds of heros all over the world. They are memorized or loved by people beyond nationalities, religions and even races. Heros are unboundedly accepted because what they have done for the people.
