QUESTION ONE: (30 MARKS) COMPULSORY


a) Define computer aided design, and explain any three application areas. (4 Marks)
b) The important reason for using a CAD system is that it offers the opportunity to develop the
database needed to manufacture the product using a suitable illustration explain the
relationship between CAD/CAM database. (4 Marks)
c) Define the term offset as used in AUTOCAD (2 Marks)
d) Explain the functions of each of the following commands as used in computer Aided Design
i. Dynamic input
ii. Mirror (4 Marks)
e) Distinguish between Extend and Trim commands as used in Computer Aided Design
(4 Marks)
f) Describe two tools found under the Draw command (4 Marks)
g) State the keyboard key you can press to activate the command line in AutoCAD.

h) Explain a circumstance under which a nonbreaking space can be used in AutoCAD.

i) List and explain any four characteristics of a good geometric modeling representation
