2. Answer all questions in sections A and B and TWO (2)questions from section C
3. Section A carries sixteen (16) Marks, Section B fifty four (54) Marks and section C
carries thirty (30) Marks
4. Map extract of ILONGA (265/2) is provided.
5. Programmable Calculator, cellular phones and any unauthorized materials are not
allowed in the examination room.

SECTION A (16 MARKS)
Answer ALL questions in this section
1. For each of the items (i)–(x), choose the correct answer from among the given
alternatives and write its letter in the answer booklet provided.
(i) Assume you are asked to help the form one student who failed to identify the type

3. Study carefully the Map extract of Ilonga (Sheet265/2) provided and answer the following
questions:
(a) Calculate the length of Luhombero River from grid reference 601978 to 631001 in
Kilometres
(b) Describe the geological patterns found in the area
(c) With evidence from the map, identify three social activities taking place in the mapped
area.
(d) Comment on the type of transport network found in the mapped area.
(e) Citing evidence from the map, explain three factors for uneven population distribution
in the area.
4.a) What is Statistics?
b) Below is the table showing Cassava production at Mwanza in ‘000’tones from
2012 to 2016. Read and answer the questions below.

5. Mr Bakari wanted to identify distance between his village and neighboring one. When he
started his activity, he encountered with a pond which limited straight measurement to take
place between two places
a) Name the type of obstacle that Mr. Bakari faced.
b) Name the method suitable for overcoming obstacle named in (a) above.
c) Describe the method named in (b) diagrammatically.
d) Explain three (3) advantages of the activity conducted by Mr. Bakari.
6. On 10th September, 2016 people of Kagera-north western Tanzania were struck by a
sudden vibration of the earth’s crust measuring 5.9 magnitude on the Richter scale.In light of
this statement answer the following questions;
(a) What is the name of the geographical phenomenon that struck the people of Kagera?

(b) Identify the name of an instrument used to detect and measure the intensity of the
phenomenon you have identified in (a) above.
(c) What is the name of the point in the earth’s crust where the phenomenon you have
identified in (a) above originates?
(d) State any three (3) precautions you will have to take to protect yourself during the
occurrence of the phenomenon identified in (a) above.
(e) Outline three (3) effects associated with the occurrence of the phenomenon identified in
(a) above.
7. Kipera produced a photograph of African continent by satellite vertically from the aircraft.
After the production of the picture he provided to his students in geography examination
with the following questions. Imagine you were the one, answer those questions.
a) What type of the photograph is that?
b) What are the three characteristics of the photograph in (a) above?
c) What are two factors which may affect the quality photograph above
d) What are the importance of that photography over other type of the
photograph (2 points)
e) Give any two similarities between the photograph named (a) and the map
8. Bareth’s family were attended listening to the narration about the geographical phenomena
where by a stronger river develops a pirate stream which advances towards a weaker rivers
into its own course then Bareth Family understood well that process. As among the member
of this family answer the following question
(a) Name and define the process explained
(b) Name three condition necessary for the formation of the process named in (a) above
(c) With well labeled diagram explain four features formed by the process named in (a)
above
SECTION C (30 MARKS)
Attempt only two (2) question from this section.
9. Baraka and his friend Fadhila were travelling from Singida to Arusha, along the road, they
saw people selling rocks, Baraka asked what type of that rocks? Fadhila answered those are
sedimentary rocks from Tanga, in general those rocks are important to our daily life. In six
(06) points support Fadhila’s words in order to make Baraka’s understanding.
10. Settlements are characterized by various features, these features may be described in
terms of a site, location, size, pattern and function and whether the settlement is permanent
or temporary. With vivid example (s) explain six factors influencing growth of settlement.
11. Tanzania has been known to have a conducive and prospective geological environment
with abundant potential of mineral deposits”. In six (6) points, explain the importance of
mining sector to the economy of Tanzania.
