National Game
Bangladesh declared Kabaddi as
national Game in 1972.
The game Kabaddi is in
existence for over 4000 years.
Kabaddi is an outdoor game.
The game might have developed
during prehistoric times.
When man was forced to defend
himself from sudden attacks/
ferocious attack.
They used to form groups to
attack animals.
The all India KABADDI
Federation was formed in the
year 1950.
The games are played as per
the situation with flexible rules.
National championship started
from the year 1952.
AMATEUR KABADDI federation of
India(AKEI) came into existence
in the year 1972.
The Asian Amateur Kabaddi
federation (AAKF) was formed in the
year 1978.
The 1st Asian Kabaddi championship
was held in the year 1980.
The inter-national KABADDI
Federation (IKF) was formed during
the 1st world cup in Kabaddi in 2004.
In 2006, first Kabaddi indoor court
was built in DOHA ( QATAR).
Kabaddi is an Inexpensive game
( Less court area).
No other gadgets are required.

game
Team
The game comprise of two teams
Each team consists 12 players.
Each team allows 7 players to
playing area.
One is a captain among seven.
Remaining 5 players on bench ( will
be sitting outside the court).
Time
It is a very short game.
Normally 40/30 minutes.
Two halves of 20 minutes
duration. Incase of ladies &
Children it is 15 minutes.
Once the first half over, the team
is entitled to a rest of 5 minutes.
If tie has occurred, there shell be
a two 5 minutes play.
What is raider
raider is an offensive player.
raider is a single player.
The raider start from central line
uttering aloud kabaddi, kabaddi,
kabaddi ……………. With out any
break.
They are responsible for scoring
points by touching opponents and
crossing the mid line.
Score
Raider should be in opponent
court of minimum 30 seconds.
Raider should be running from
one side to other side with
chanting Kabaddi, Kabaddi …in
an opponent court & try to touch
the opponent players with hand
or leg.
Raider should return/escape to their
own court after touching (tag) the
opponent player/s without breaking
Kabaddi, Kabaddi …..
The number of opponent players that
raider has touched is the score of the
team (
Example.,
When raider touches one player:-1
Score point.
when raider touches 3 players:-3
Score point)
The opponent players touched
during raid should exit from court.
If the raider is trapped/caught
during raid, not allowing raider to
touch central line & raider losing
chanting Kabaddi, Kabbadi…. is
considered as out.
Raider should exit the court.
The score point goes to opponent
team( Antis)
Revived
The eliminated players can be
revived and brought back into the
game if a raider from their team
scores touch points on the
opposition team during a
subsequent raid
Their team can pull off a successful
raid on the opposition raider as the
match progresses.
Lona
If a team can eliminate all seven
players of the opposition team,
they earn two extra points via all
out or Lona

Court Measurement
The mat/court measures 13m X
10m for senior men’s
professional Kabaddi events.
The mat /court measures 12m X
8m (slightly smaller) for
women/ Children's professional
Kabaddi events.
It is an rectangular court.
The distance between Center line to
Baulk line in Kabaddi for men is 3.75
Mts.
The distance between Center line to
Baulk line in Kabaddi for women is
3.00 Mts.
The distance between Bonus line to
Endline in Kabaddi for men is 1.75
Mts.
The distance between Bonus line to
Endline in Kabaddi for men is 2.00

Note: The players on the defensive
side are called “Antis” while the
player of the offence is called the
“raider”.
The player enter opponent court is
called raider.
If the raider won't touch any
opponent player & return back, no
score point for any team.

Hand touch
Hand touch is the easiest and
perhaps the first raiding skill
learnt by the raiders. This
apparently is a easy skill which
does require proper practice and
good reflexes on the part of the
raider.
Toe Touch
When raider tries to touch the
opponent.
If raider gets success in touching
the opponent with his toe and
returns back to his area.
Thigh Hold
If the raider has been caught by
the thigh, the grip is typically
very firm. which means that the
raider's chances of escaping is
less.
It is one of the defenders'
favourite skills.
Ankle Holder
An Ankle hold involves a
defender using all his strength
to get a grip on a raider's ankle
and then uses his upper-body
strength to pull him back in
order to halt his momentum
Bonus
If the raider steps beyond the
bonus line marked in the
defending team's territory, when
there are six or more players;
then raiders team earn an
additional point known as a
bonus point.
