Paint Questions
1. To prep a composite surface for painting it is similar to the metal process besides that the primer
and paint systems may be slightly different according to the paint manufacturers
recommendation. You must roughen the surface with a non abrasive pad such as scotch brite.
Then remove all dust with a damp rag of lacquer In accordance with Dale Crane Page 534-535

2. There are several types of paint systems used for aircraft including zinc chromate primer, epoxy
primer, sanding primer, and wash primers. Dale Crane page 535 Section Primers
3. Types of Finishes used on aircraft include Nitrate dope, butyrate dope, nitro cellulose lacquer,
poly tone, synthetic enamel, acrylic lacquer, acrylic enamel, urethane enamel, and epoxy paint.
