Let Us Study

These are the Global Health Initiatives spearheaded by the World Health
Organization:
1. The Global Fight against Communicable Diseases
• Roll Back Malaria
Treatment and prevention interventions were recommended to treat
malaria. Prevention focuses on mosquito control.
• Stop TB
In the past, operation, and removal of infected tissue in the lungs was
thought to be an easy cure for TB but today medicines to Stop TB is
available at the local health centers.
2. Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization
Before vaccines and immunization were discovered, several children
suffered diseases like measles, polio, mumps, diphtheria, and rubella.
The United Nations Children’s Fund(UNICEF) launched a program that
will increase vaccination rates among children.
3. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.
AIDS, TB and Malaria used to be the leading cause of deaths in the past.
But many supports were given to the program. People with AIDS can
treat it as chronic diseases. TB and malaria incidence have reduced
4. Global Prevention and Control of Tobacco and Alcohol Us
This program helps protect, regulate, and educate users the dangers of
tobacco to reduce non communicable diseases.
5. Global Strategy to Reduce the Harmful Use of Alcohol
The harmful use of alcohol is a serious health burden, and it affects virtually
all individuals on an international scale. Global strategies focused on public
health advocacy and partnership and production and dissemination of
knowledge.
6. Global Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Non- Communicable
Diseases
A global action plan to prevent and control the following non-communicable
diseases: cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, cancers and
diabetes and the four shared risk factors: unhealthy eating, physical
inactivity, tobacco use and alcohol use.
7. Global Initiative for Mental Health
This program fights, alleviates, improves and prevents abuse of rights and
unjust treatment against people with mental problems , disorders and
disabilities which are still prevalent around the world.
8. Global Initiative to Fight Coronavirus(COVID – 19)

Coronavirus19 (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan, China and spread around the
world. While there is no vaccine to cure this infection yet, people are advised
to wear mask, wash hands often, use alcohol and follow strict social
distancing when in public place and when there are many people around so
as not to have the virus.

Global Health Initiative is a health program initiated by the World Health


Organization and made available to poor people in many countries. The
medicines and services are free specially to people living in far flung areas.
This is to uplift the dignity of these people. The health workers have to visit
their places and give them free consultation and medicines to keep
themselves healthy.
