E – Mentoring

Introduction of
the Program:
Mentorship, if provided at the right
stage in one’s life can accelerate one’s
growth journey tremendously. For
adolescents from vulnerable
communities, access to education itself
is a significant challenge, leave alone
finding the right mentors, in most cases,
these are first generation learners and
lack adequate guidance and support
from parents.

WCF’s E Mentoring program facilitates


interactions between students and WNS employees
from across the world. These interactions open up a whole
new world to children & encourage them to think differently.

These interactions give them new cultural insights, builds their


self – confidence, and empowers them to dream big. Our Aim is
to provide a role model since the children are looking for one.

A small amount of time can make a lasting positive impact in the


young person’s life.

Most of the children had no Exposure to the latest technology


and unaware of medium of Communication which is important
for them to shape their vision. WNS introduced the E – Mentoring
Program for children in India from Grade 7th,8th, 9th & 10th with
a medium of email exchange/What’s app/Voice & Video Call for
India & International WNS Employees (mentors).

Objective of the
Program:
■ To provide a guided mentoring relationship
through emails/What’s app/Voice & Video Call
■ Aim to bring an added interest and focus to
learning
■ To help the adolescent grow up to be a
confident individual who is an asset to Program Duration:
the society
Mentors to connect with the
■ Reiterating the importance of education and
Mentees in an academic year
its link with career opportunities
from Grade 7th, 8th & 9th & 10th.
These interactions will be
through emails/What’s app
messages/Voice & Video Call.

Who is a Mentor?
A mentor :
■ Is a wise teacher, a guide, and a friend?
■ Befriends, and motivates a young person
■ Shares ideas / wisdom
■ Opens doors of opportunity for the young person to explore
■ Provides a positive vision of the future and believes in the child's dreams
■ Is the one who stimulates an interest in learning by creating new
learning opportunities
■ Helps the Child realize that they can succeed

Qualities of a Successful Mentor:


■ Commits to invest time necessary ■ Is a positive role model?
to assist with the development of
the student ■ Is Non-judgmental

■ Discusses educational ■ Is not a disciplinarian

Getting Started:
■ Mentor will be paired with 2 – 3 Mentees by the
WCF Team and the Contact details will be shared

■ Mentor will receive the Communication through


an e-mail/What’s app/Voice & Video Call every
month. You are requested to reply to the Mentee
at the earliest (appropriately)

■ We request Mentors to understand and overcome


cultural barriers, if any at the beginning of the
session. It may require a couple of extra
interactions

■ Volunteers & NGO Partners will assist to


implement the program.

Program Rules:
Do’s
■ Connect to your student at least once a month
■ Notify your student if you will be on a vacation or on a business trip that
will delay contact
■ Your student may communicate with you from their Contact numbers,
E-mail address or Zoom
■ Notify WCF, immediately if your student behaves inappropriately

Don’ts
■ Communicate with your student social media websites (Face book, My
Space, etc.)
■ If you receive a communication from anything other than your students
WCF e-mail address/Contact number, please notify WCF
■ Do not give your home address to your student
■ Please do not enter into any material or monetary transactions with the
students

Closure of the Program:


■ The program concludes with
a final goodbye to their
mentors as Children would be
moving to the next Grade -
colleges (High school)
■ Children share their
experience of their journey
with the E- mentoring
