steel materials shall be Type 321 or 347.

h. Fans and drivers shall be capable of delivering a minimum of 110% of the required air
flow.

i. Exchangers shall be designed for maximum interchangeability of parts.

(1) Carbon steel or ferritic low alloy steel: 0.109 inch (2.77 mm).

(2) High alloy (austenitic and ferritic) steel: 0.065 inch (1.65 mm).

(3) Copper or aluminum alloy: 0.083 inch (2.11 mm).

(4) Monel: 0.065 inch (1.65 mm).

c. Finned tubes shall be subjected to the following temperature limitations:

(1) The maximum allowable design temperature for aluminum fins wrapped under
tension and mechanically embedded in grooves shall be 750°F (400°C).

(2) The maximum allowable design temperature for inner tubes mechanically
bonded to aluminum outer tubes from which fins have been formed by extrusion
shall be 550°F (290°C).

(3) The maximum allowable design temperature for aluminum footed fins wrapped

b. Explosion proof motors intended for installation in an area of restricted ventilation shall
be classified as Class 1, Division 1 by the National Electrical Code and API RP 500.

c. Variable speed motors shall be compatible with associated frequency converters.

2.5 Motor Starters

2.7 Combined Services

When two or more services are installed in a common air bay, a positive means of controlling
the temperature for each individual service shall be provided.

2.8 Winterization

The object of the winterization system is to prevent the inside tube wall temperature from
going below the critical process temperature point such as the freezing point, pour point,
hydrate formation point, etc. that would result in high viscosity, freezing, or solidification of
the process fluids. The vendor is responsible for providing a control system and necessary
equipment to assure continuous operation of the air coolers, under all anticipated ambient air
temperatures. The design of winterization systems shall be based on Annex C of ISO 13706 /
API 661. In addition, the design shall include all other factors that affect the low temperature
inlet air operation of the exchanger, such as maldistribution of air flow and lack of proper
mixing of recirculated air during low ambient temperatures (when recirculation of warm air
is utilized).

3. MATERIALS

3.1 Headers
Header material shall be carbon steel.

3.2 Tubes

a. Tube material shall be carbon steel conforming to one of the following ASME
