I. Background of the Program:
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 339, s. 2012 declaring the month of August of every
year as History Month. The activities aim to underscore the importance of recognizing
and celebrating the rich historical and cultural heritage of the nation. By dedicating
the entire month to history, the activity aims to foster deeper understanding and
appreciation of the pivotal events, significance figures, and diverse cultural traditions
that have shaped the Philippines.
Don Jose Integrated High School joins this endeavor. In this regard a classroom-
based activities were done to celebrate “History Month”. The classroom-based
activities are intended to deepen the appreciation of the learners to our history. Instill
in the heart and mind of the youth the greatness of the Filipino race, the legacy of
their heroes, and the ideals of their nationhood by highlighting the legacy of our
country’s history and its relevance to the present and future generation.
II. Strategies for Implementation (e.g. narrative on classroom integration, performance task,
culminating activities, film showing, debate, oratorical etc.)
The Don Jose Integrated High School celebrates History Week on August 21 – 27,
2024. In this regard a classroom-based activities were done to celebrate “History
Week”. A school memorandum was made to inform the AP Teachers about the
assigned activities related to our rich history and cultural heritage. Here is the list of
assigned activities per grade level and AP teachers in-charge of the activity.

III. Efficiency (this section discusses the highlights of the program on how the school were
able to conduct efficiently)
August 21, 2024, the Grade 7 and Grade 8 AP Teachers and students started their
History Week activities (Poster Making and Essay Writing) with the Theme: “Salaysay
ng Bayan, Saysay ng Bayan” (Stories of the People, Essence of the Nation).
The activities related to History Week was conducted during Araling Panlipunan
class. The teachers explained the guidelines and rubrics for the poster making and
essay writing.
On August 22, 2024, the Grade 9 students enjoyed watching Historical
documentaries that enhance their interest about what happened in the past.
The Grade 10 students showed their wits and intelligence in class debate that tackles
different topics from our history and Contemporary Issues. Some topics for debates
are; Si Rizal ba o si Bonifacio ang dapat na kilalanin na Pambansang Bayani? and
Social Media: Nakakatulong ba o nakakasama sa mga Kabataan? Here is the rubrics
for scoring the class debate. G10 AP teachers first show videos on YouTube about
debating to let learners familiarize to it. Then form two (2) groups that consist of four
members with 2 rounds the rest of the students were audiences.
The Senior High School Teachers prepared a lecture for the Grade 11 & 12 students
about the importance of History in shaping the mind of young Filipinos and their
loved for our country.

IV. Effectiveness (this section discusses how program effectively implemented and address
the needs of the learners)
The use of different activities develops a specific skill to learners using the activity
through performance task. Teachers encourage the learners to participate, especially
those who exhibit much interest in drawing, writing, public speaking, and from those
who learn more through audio visuals.
V. Highlights of the Activities (this section will be presented based on the nature of activities
conducted by school. Specify the target competencies/21st century skills that learners
developed and the like.
Poster Making – Shows the creative skills of the learners, being able to process and
transmit information into new knowledge.
Essay Writing – Enhance the literacy skills of the learners. Ability to write, read,
comprehend, and express their own opinions on a specific topic.
Film Showing – Develops media literacy that allows students to understand the
media and the information provided by the media. Given that we live in the digital
age, we need to have a critical attitude towards all forms of information to be able to
recognize quality and identify manipulation.
Debate – Presenting ideas and exchanging opinions using different methods; ability
to actively listen and understand other people’s views.
Lectures - Information literacy skills is the ability to find, evaluate, organize, use,
and communicate information in all its various formats, most notably in situations
requiring decision making, problem solving, or the acquisition of knowledge.

The impact of the project to the learners were as follows
• Recognized the significance of Philippine History.
• Developed learners’ love for the country.
