The CT scan report for Mr. Akash reveals normal findings in the right temporal bone, while the left temporal bone shows evidence of soft tissue density indicating unsafe type of left chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) with mastoiditis. The report highlights complete erosion of middle ear ossicles and soft tissue thickening extending into the mastoid antrum. Clinical correlation is advised, and the report is not valid for medico-legal purposes.

CT SCAN
HRCT TEMPORAL BONE WITHOUT CONTRAST
Protocol:- Non-contrast spiral axial scans of the temporal bones were obtained on a 16 slice MDCT scanner followed by coronal
reformats. The study reveals:

FINDINGS:

SCANS THROUGH RIGHT TEMPORAL BONE REVEALS:

Right middle ear including the epi- & mesotympanum, the aditus & mastoid antrum appear normal.

Middle ear ossicles appear normal.

Cochlea, semi-circular canals & vestibule appear normal.

Tegmen tympani & scutum appear normal.

Facial canal and sinodural plate appear normal.

Carotid canal & jugular foramen appear normal.

SCANS THROUGH LEFT TEMPORAL BONE REVEAL:

There is evidence of soft tissue density is seen in the middle ear cavity causing complete erosion all middle
ear ossicle and sputum. Soft tissue thickening is also seen extending into the aditus ad antrum and further
extending into the mastoid antrum replacing the mastoid air cells. It is causing focal erosion of lateral wall
of mastoid with defect size ~ 5.2 mm. It is also causing focal thinning of bony wall overlying the vestibule.
It is also causing mild retraction of tympanic membrane and appears to extending into left external auditory
canal.
It is causing focal thinning of bony fascial canal of tympanic segment of fascial nerve.

Cochlea, semi-circular canals & vestibule appear normal.

Tegmen tympani & scutum appear normal .

Facial canal and sinodural plate appear normal.
