Three main category of cruise

ship facilities and their


amenities:
1.) Stateroom Space-a private room on a ship or train,
and can also refer to a large room in a palace or other
building.
2.) Private Space – reserved for the ships’ personnel like
the cabins for crew, crew & officers mess, gym, crew bar
& other recreational facilities, the bridge, the galley & the
machine areas.
3.) Public Spaces – dedicated to passengers’ usage
(Reception area, Dining room, Entertainment area, Pool
area, Gym, spa and sports facilities, Childrens’ area,
Gaming & amusements area.
The three categories – Sea, Sky and Star – are available on-board Oasis, Quantum and Quantum-Ultra
Class ships.

 Sea Class Junior Suites. The Junior Suite is a great ‘starter


suite’ available fleetwide. The suite is still an intimate
option with a great view and sleeping arrangements up to
four guests. There are two twin beds (which can be
converted to a Royal King), a double sofa bed in
staterooms for up to four guests and then a Pullman bed
for staterooms with up to 3 guests.
 Sky Class Grand Suites, Owner’s Suites and Sky Loft
Suites .Sky Class is a bit luxurious compared from the Sea
Class, with complimentary hor d’oeuvres and cocktails
and exclusive access to lounges.. Inclusions are: concierge
service, specialty bottled water upon arrival, priority
boarding/ departure, dining reservations, reserved seating
area in selected entertainment venues, suite lounge access
and access to suite sun deck.
Grand Suite .This is with larger space than the Junior
available fleetwide of the Royal Caribbean except for
the “ Empress of the Seas.” Grand Suite offers two
bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living area with a sofa
bed. The suite can fit up to eight guests and includes a
large balcony. It also includes a couch, coffee table and
a bar area.

Owner’s Suite. The Owner’s Suites available fleetwide
of the Royal Caribbean except for the “ Independence
of the Seas.” They are larger similar to Grand Suites,
with spacious bathroom and offer more luxurious
amenities such as a whirlpool tub and a small dining
table. The suite can accommodate up to five guests with
two twin beds which can be converted to a Royal King
bed and a double sofa bed.
Star Class

Royal Loft Suites, Owner’s Loft Suites and Grand


Loft Suites
Inclusions are the following: complimentary
deluxe beverage package for guests 21 years
old and above, complimentary refreshment
package for guests below 21 years old, still
and sparkling bottled water replenished every
day, complimentary gratuities, expedite
boarding and departure, suite lounge and
suite sun deck access, guaranteed best seats
in selected entertainment venues.
Royal Loft Suite
 the Royal Loft Suite is the largest loft suite in the Royal
Caribbean fleet and the most opulent type of suite with
special features like enormous bathrooms, walk-in closets,
piano and a private [Link] is available in Quantum
Ultra and Quantum Class Ships except for the Spectrum of
the Seas. This can accommodate up to six guests with a king
size bed, two twin beds (or Royal King bed) and a double
sofa bed.

Owner’s Loft Suite


 The Owner’s Loft Suites are luxurious choice of suite with
balcony on both levels available in “ Odyssey of the Seas” “
Ovation of the Seas”,”Anthem of the Seas” and Quantum of
the Seas.” of the Royal Caribbean fleet. This type is with
more living room space and with king size bed, double sofa
bed and all the benefits you’d enjoy with the Star Class tier.
Grand Loft Suite
This type is available in “ Quantum
Class and Quantum Ultra Class “.
Apparently, with a spectacular, two-
floor loft which includes a private
balcony, dining and living areas as
well as sleeping arrangements for up
to four guests and all the benefits with
the Star Class tier.
Other Suites

Royal Suite
 The Royal Suite isn’t as widely featured with a
number of only 18 of this type in the Royal
Caribbean fleet but is available in the “Empress,
Sovereign, Vision, Voyager, Radiance and Freedom
Class Ships.” The Royal Suite can accommodate
up to four guests, with a king bed and a double
sofa [Link] type is more of a luxury apartment
than a stateroom with its impressive archways,
baby grand pianos, bar areas and full-sized
reception and living areas equipped with couches.

 Panoramic Suites - offer varying Ocean View on-board


Royal Caribbean.
Ocean View Panoramic Suite
 This type is available in the “ Voyager and Freedom
Class Ships” and featuring wraparound, panoramic
windows ideal for spending time in enjoying the sea
and ports view for the guests. This type can
accommodate up to six guests and the suite contains
two twin beds which can be converted into a Royal
King; a double sofa bed; and two bunk beds.

Grand Panoramic Suite


 An upgraded type, the Grand Panoramic offers more
space alongside floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows
and a balcony for a wondrous sights. This is available
in the “Oasis of the Seas” and the “ Allure of the Seas”.
The suite can accommodate up to four guests with a
king size bed and a double sofa bed.
Owner’s Panoramic Suite
This type is only available in the “Oasis of the
Seas”. This type offers floor-to-ceiling windows
similar to the Grand Panoramic Suite and can
accommodate up to four guests but is much larger
in size or space.

Ultimate Panoramic Suite


Seemingly, a brand new suite type back in 2019
and available only in the “ Oasis of the Seas.” This
type can accommodate up to four guests and
offers plenty of sweeping space and 200-degree
views from your floor-to-ceiling windows, other
features include a walk-in closet, upgraded
bathroom.
Other types of Loft Suites

Loft Suites can be found on-board Quantum


and Oasis Class ships, featuring beautiful,
light-filled spaces set across two decks

Star Loft Suite


This type of suite is available in the “Oasis
Class Ships” except for the “ Harmony of
the Seas.” This also offers an incredible
views and scenery with the floor-to-ceiling
windows and two-level space and can
accommodate up to four guests.
AquaTheater Suites
The AquaTheater Suites can accommodate up to
eight guests with two bedrooms, two bathrooms
and a spacious living area but only available on
Oasis Class Ships except for “Ovation of the
Seas”. As the name suggests, ‘AquaTheater
Suites’, boast a huge wraparound balcony with
views to the AquaTheater and the ships
surroundings.

Family Suites

This type of suite is designed to be the ideal


accommodation for families who are embarking
for a cruise vacation.
Villa Suite
 This type is also known as Presidential Family Suites .This
type is available in the “Liberty of the Seas”,”Freedom of the
Seas”, “Symphony of the Seas” and “ Harmony of the Seas “
This type is about 1,200 [Link]. with four bedrooms, four
bathrooms, a grand living area and an entertainment center,
the suite also boasts a large balcony, whirlpool tub and an
outdoor living area.
Ultimate Family Suite

 This type of suite is available in the “Symphony of the Seas” and “


Spectrum of the Seas”. An additional features for this type are the air-
hockey table, LEGO wall, hot tub and even a slide that connects the upper
level with the [Link] are two bedrooms, one for the parents and one
for kids. A sofa bed in the living room can also accommodate for two guests
Public Spaces
These are another areas dedicated
to guest utilization. Since cruise
ships are also called as “ floatels”
or floating hotels and resorts, they
have the same and similar public
spaces with land-based hotels and
resorts.
These are the following:
Reception Area : This is the hotel lobby of the
ship and has several offices that have direct
contact with the guest within this area like the
concierge, pursers’ office and more.
Dining Room – This is the area, where the
guests’ meals are served. This refers to many
restaurants and bars inside the ship. The size
and concept depend on the carrying capacity of
the ship and of the target market. The food and
beverage operation of the cruise ship is similar
to the food and beverage operation in a land-
based hotel.
 Showroom - This area is the venue for
entertainment shows, theater shows, business
functions like conventions, seminar-workshop,
conferences, meetings and served as the muster
station, the venue for safety and emergency drill
demonstration for both passenger and crew
members.
 Recreation, health/wellness and shopping areas –
These areas comprise of many like the swimming
pool area, where guest can swim, relax and even have
food and drinks. The duty free onboard, shopping
boutiques for clothes, perfumes ,accessories and
jewelries but open only during at sea to avoid conflict
with the local laws. The medical clinic. The gym,
health and wellness spa, aerobics/pilates area, hair
salon, internet or business centers, library, lounges,
music room, cigar room, planetarium, cinema house,
cabanas, and kiosks.
Sports, game and amusement areas –
Mega-ships have a wide array of sporting
and gaming facilities like casino but it is
only open when the ship is at sea to avoid
conflict with local laws, golf, race track,
dodgeball, foosball, basketball, tennis and
badminton courts ,soccer field, jogging
track, shuffleboard, skyride, flowrider,
rock- climbing wall, ice skating, zip line
area, bowling center and water park.
Worship/Prayer areas – Prayer rooms
available generally for Christians and
Muslims. Mini-chapel for Christians.
Childrens’ area
This area offers babysitting services to a wide range
of age group including the library area and water
park area for kids.

Passenger / Crew tours and excursions.


For Guests embarking on a cruise vacation
means visiting various places around the
world and so with the crew members
embarking on a cruise ship for a job, means a
chance of visiting places around the world
too. Crew Tours and Excursions for Crew
members are with limited slots and limited
availability per destinations with a minimal
fee.
The following are cruising destinations for cruise ships and locations for tours and excursions for guests
onboard as well as for the crew members in some instances.

 Asia Cruising Destinations – There are many cruise destinations in


Thailand like Krabi, Phuket, Laem Chabang, Phang-nga bay ,Phi phi
Islands, Similan Islands, Koh Samui. In Malaysia, Singapore, Hongkong,
the Halong bay, Hanoi and Danang of Vietnam, the Kota Kinabalu of
Indonesia and the Kalanggaman Island in Leyte, Manila, Philippines.
 Alaska Cruises – One of the best Alaska cruise routes is the Alaska sail one
way between Vancouver and either Seward or Whittier because it offers the
guests onboard the most opportunities to experience all that Alaska has to

extention of their cruise vacation either
before or after, in or around the city,

airfare, transportation, car rental, tours
and excursion, accommodation and
lodging and more are part of the
inclusion.
Intermediary Port Stops – There are
options to undertake for cruise vacation
guests the moment the ship arrives at the
port of call. Guests may explore the
place on their own. They may purchase a
tour, excursion or activity from a vendor
at the port. They may have also an option
in purchasing shore excursion, tours, port
activity onboard the ship.

dietary requests. Requests should be made in writing via the travel

to embarkation.

arrangements and to answer questions like organizing private onboard
parties, recommending top dining spots in each port of call, ensuring
guest cruise experience exceeds all their expectations.
 Front Office Services – For the convenience of guests
onboard, the reception desk or front desk is open 24
hours a day and services include the following:
General information, guest services, money matters,
business-related services, lost and found, guest
message services, faxes( incoming and outgoing),
shipboard account, check-in and check-out procedure
during embarkation and disembarkation days.
 Destination Services – Many excursions are capacity
controlled. Cruise lines strongly suggest purchasing
guests excursions in advance as all shore excursions
purchased online receive priority processing and
guaranteed acceptance. Guest may arrange a
customized tour the executive collection of private
tours which includes a private car or van along with
an English-speaking driver and guide .
 Purchase excursions aboard ship can be done with the
help of the Destinations department onboard the ship.
Room Service – This is also 24 hours open
daily. Guest will find a complete dining
menu located in their staterooms or suites.
Butler Services – Butler service is provided
exclusively to guests staying in suites.
Butler will or upon request provides the
guests with a wide array of services. Cruise
Lines encouraged Guests staying in Suites
to avail this expertise, personalized service
and professional assistance of a Butler. A
detailed list of services and amenities can be
found in the suite.
Housekeeping Services – The cabin steward
or stewardess is responsible for the
cleanliness and overall comfort of guest
staterooms or suites. Cabin
steward/stewardess will respond to any
special requests surrounding guests
accommodation.

Tender Service – All cruise ships can


provide this type of service if ports of call
may require the ship to anchor offshore. If
this will be the case, Guests will be required
to use the tenders to go ashore. When
tendering is required , guest will be notified
as to where and when to meet and to board
the tenders.
 Transfer Service – Cruise ships’ guests, who will
purchase ground transfers will be provided with
motor coach service from the airport to the ship
during embarkation day and vice versa during
disembarkation day. The same system with the
purchase of air transportation. If guest will purchase
from his/her own. It is understandable that guest
should provide flight arrival and departure
information prior to the cruise so that the ship can
include the guests’ name in their arrival and
departure manifests and ensure the guests’ transfer.
Cruise ships’ representatives will be stationed at the
airport in the city where the guest is embarking the
ship. Guests who have purchased a pre-and/or post-
cruise hotel package from the cruise lines will be
provided with motor coach transfers from the airport
to the hotel and from the hotel to the ship.
Spa, Salon and Fitness Services – As cruise ships
have their wide selection of beauty, relaxation, and
rejuvenation spa treatments and services available
from an expert, trained staff. A personal trainer is
on duty to craft personalized workouts and a
variety of group classes are available daily.

Dry Cleaning, Laundry and Pressing Services


– This is another type of services available
onboard cruise ships including a self-service
laundry facility onboard for a fee including the
laundry detergent, irons and ironing boards are
available.
 Internet Services – This type of service is available 24
hours a day in a specific location of a ship with fee
schedule that will be billed against to the guest
shipboard account. Wireless hotspots are available
usually in the library, on the pool deck.
 Guest will be given a unique e-mail address for guest use
while onboard prior to embarkation.
 Telephone and Communication Services – In all cruise ships,
every stateroom or suite is equipped with a telephone able to make
private, ship-to-shore calls to anywhere in the world. Fax
messages can be sent via the reception desk. Letters and postcards
with the appropriate postage can be mailed at the reception desk,
postage for mail cab be purchased at the same desk for a nominal
fee. Mail will be collected one hour prior to sailing from each port
of call. Incoming mail or faxes received by the ship will be
delivered to the guest stateroom or suite.
 Medical Conditions and Services – Every cruise ship is with
limited medical facilities and staffed by an international l medical
personnel. Customary emergency room fees and charges do apply
for medical services and based by the services performed by the
ships’ medical staff. Guests with any medical conditions that may
require treatment or attention during the voyage or guests needing
medical apparatus including wheelchairs, motorized scooters,
oxygen therapy and more must inform the cruise lines in writing
prior to embarkation. Ships wheelchairs are generally reserved for
medical emergencies only.

 Cruise ships Onboard newsletter ( Communication Services


)– This type of newsletter serves as the agenda of scheduled
activities including the safety drill for passengers, services,
entertainment, port information, office and dining hours, special
social events, shore excursions for the next day. It is available
every cruise ship and published daily, delivered to the guest
stateroom or suite every evening. The name of the specific
newsletter varies from cruise line to cruise line. For example “
Oceania Currents” for Oceania Cruises.
 Security Services – Guests’ personal safety and
security is the highest priority of all cruise ships.
Each ship is equipped with advanced and
sophisticated security technology including x-ray,
metal detector and photo identification systems and
dedicated well-trained professional security
officers. Each ship also complies with the
International Maritime Organizations’ Safety of
Life at Sea regulations.

 Shipboard all in one card – This card will


function as the guest stateroom key, onboard charge
card and shipboard security ID card aboard the ship.
The specific name for this card varies from cruise
line to cruise line. For example “Oceania
WorldCard” for Oceania Cruises.
 Passports – In order to facilitate the ships’ customs
clearance and maximize guests time ashore in every
international port of call. Passports will be collected
by the ships’ staff upon embarkation and will be in
the care of the Ships’ Chief Purser. The onboard
newsletter will inform the guests those ports which
may require to carry passport ashore.
 Visas – Visa and passport requirements and
regulations in regards to vaccination certificates and
other health requirements, vary by destination and
based on a guests’ country of nationality. It is the sole
responsibility of each guests to obtain , have available
the appropriate, valid travel and health documents
including visas for their chosen itinerary.
 Visitors on Board – To ensure guests safety and security. No
visitors will be allowed aboard the ship.
 Alcohol Policy – Generally, Cruise ships will refuse and
prohibits the sale or service of alcoholic beverages to
guests under 21 years old. Guests are reminded kindly in
consuming alcohol in moderation. Generally, cruise ships
reserve the right to prohibit and retain all alcohol bought
ashore for consumption onboard the ship.
 Baggage Policy – Baggage for guests’ must be handled
pursuant to regulations and tariffs of airlines,
government security requirements and ground operators.
Every Cruise ship reserves the right to refuse any items
that may be considered dangerous like explosives,
firearms, liquid oxygen, combustible or illegal items.
Every cruise ship reserves the right to search any
baggage for security reasons. All hand-carried luggage
and personal effects are the responsibility of the guests at
all times. The cruise ship/cruise line is not responsible
for the loss of or damage of guests baggage. Baggage
insurance is recommended.
Electrical Outlets – 110v and 220v are available
current onboard. Guest may use personal appliances
from the U.S. without the need for electrical
converters or transformers. For safety reasons ,
cooking equipment and irons may not be used in
your staterooms.
Money Matters – For Guests’ convenience, usually
cruise ships’ offer a cashless system on board. All
onboard purchases and services will be posted and
billed to guest onboard account. Activating onboard
account will be done at the reception desk via
registering a credit card imprint. Personal checks are
not allowed. If the guests will wish to settle their
account via a traveler’s check or cash, the guest will
be asked to make a cash deposit at the reception
desk.
